How does your game fit the theme?
The core mechanic involves drawing loops around bugs to stun and more easily capture them.

Interesting way to approach the "loop" theme! Very cool game! I don't know if it should have gotten a little bit deeper at some point? 🤔
The art style choice and the vibe was perfect for the game, well made 👏
Thank you!!
Thanks so much!
i love the aesthetics :3
Thank you! We were lucky enough to have an amazing artist on the team!
d'aww :D
That's very kind of you to say, thank you!
A very creative game, featuring amazing art and being quite funny. The number of different bug types is impressive :D
Great Job!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing art? Jeepers! That's very sweet, thank you so much~~!
Hello, fellow bug-circling game devs! Dilly commented on our game and I had to check you out!
Delightful game! I very much enjoyed the writing and character design of the various merchants, and stunning and collecting bugs was also pretty satisfying.
I wish there was a bit more of a goal to aim for, but to be honest, just getting to talk to the merchants kept me going for a good while.
I am curious how your loop detection worked. It seemed like sometimes it would count as a loop early, and sometimes it wouldn’t count even though I had fully enclosed the bugs.
The overall aesthetic of the game was fantastic! I loved all the writing and doodles on the ! notebook tab, and even your volume slider was hilarious.
UPDATE: I found the bug stats. 10/10. I always wanted to know how affable and leg each bug species is
You're far too kind, thank you so so much for coming by and giving us a look! I actually was playing your game on stream a bit ago and I was equal parts grumbling about how much -cooler- your game was than mine and loving on your writing/drawing animation, it was.. legitimately beautiful, truly.
The circles don't actually.. read at all. They're read by the bugs, and the bugs cast rays in 8 directions, and if all 8 rays encounter the line drawn within a certain proximity, it procs the stun mechanic. Uhh, from what I understand. I'm the artist and writer, so, take that with a grain.
Thanks again, and truly, you made a really good game!
Oh, gotcha, yeah that explanation makes sense and explains the behavior. It definitely worked well enough for the game, I was just curious if there was something I was missing. I hope you don’t mind but I clicked over to your page and found the stream, and I have to say, you picked up the drawing/throwing mechanic really quickly and were performing exactly the type of moves we were hoping players would figure out, which was really rewarding to see :)
Oh, I don't mind at all, I'm flattered, thank you for the interest!
This game cracks me up lol The art is really great too and everything fits together nicely. What a gem! Nice work!
Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!
Oh, thank you so much! I'll see if I can get around to giving you some feedback if I can manage it in the morning!
Good game with interesting dialogs, although is a very simplistic concept. Later in the game I realized that I could trap bugs without the loop. For some reason I think the effort shows in the dialogs.
Thanks for giving us a gander! And yeah, you can absolutely just grab the bugs, but the stun from the loop massively nerfs their catch resistance, so hitting them with a quick circle makes them way easier to grab.
And yeah, unfortunately, we had to really carve down the idea and the execution due to the time constraints, so we ended up with money as a.. score? I guess? and nothing to buy, no tutorial, etc, things like that. Happens, y'know? Thanks again!
The worm merchant was so cute I'd sell my soul to it :) The visuals are what makes the game for me, along with the music choices the whole vibe was very charming and fitting for the theme. Great job!
Oh my goodness, that's so so sweet, thank you!
I did the art so :')
Love the concept, however the game was quite laggy for me.
Thanks for the feedback, sorry you had issues with it! Are you comfortable sharing information about what hardware you're on?
Loved the art style and it felt really good seing the stars blow away once you kill the bug . I haven't figured out yet what to do with all the money I earned 😬😬
Lovely game, really entertaining
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! Right now the money basically acts as a 'score'. We had some ideas on how to spend it but did not end up with enough time to implement them.
What Nerd said about the money, yeah, but thanks so much for the art shoutout, it means so much!
Maybe biased but I love the circling mechanic. Felt a tad inconsistent as to what triggered it. Not sure if there's a game over state, so I just kept going until I didn't feel like catching bugs anymore. Fun game.
Thank you so much! There is no end to our friends desire to buy your bugs, so you are free to catch those little critters to your hearts content!
As others have said, the art style is really cool — the notebook and ink effect is very well done!
Unfortunately, the gameplay didn’t feel very original to me, as it’s not the first game I’ve played during the jam where you have to circle enemies to defeat them (in fact, I discovered your game after playing one like that).
That said, it's still a solid entry with a great presentation!
Thank you for the feedback!! I'm glad that you enjoyed the art and presentation.
Thank you so much for the art compliment! And the feedback as well, but you know - with over 9,700 entries, I wasn't expecting to break any new ground here in the 4 days we had! Cheers!
I love this art style, it did took me a while to understand how to stun and collect the bugs, but once I got it going it became very addictive!
That's very kind of you to say, thank you!
Very nice art style
As the artist, thank you <3 much obliged
great fun little game, love the artwork!
Thanks so much! As the maker-of-the-artwork, that means a lot, especially since yours looked awesome!
Thank you! I will definitely take a look at your entry
Thank you so much, that's very kind of you!
Super cool game! Really enjoyed playing it although I have no clue what the money ended up being used for
Thank you, glad you liked it!! Right now the money is basically a "score". We didn't end up having time to implement things to spend the funds on., unfortunately.
Thanks so much for stoppin in and checking us out!
Cool graphics and fun gameplay, didn't saw much progress after meeting the 3 characters, have anything after selling the bugs a bunch of times? Anyways, loved the Pokémon range vibes and the sounds are really satisfying. Great job :D
Hey, thanks, appreciate you stopping on by and giving the feedback!
We had plans for a progressive system of bugs, different writing/drawing stuff, different locations/settings that had different bugs available, etc, buuut we didn't have time to fully implement or integrate them, so the $$ mostly just became a kind of de facto scoring system. Thanks again for checking us out!
Oh, got it. You have a pretty solid idea here!
I’ll be following to see the next updates if there will be any :)
Lööps, bröther.
Much more fleshed out than many of the other circle-the-critters games with the added mechanics to capture bugs, the RPG-like stats on them, the merchants with different prices and stories, etc. Very well put together and easily something to spin into a full fledged mobile or tablet game for some real money. 10/10 would feed 17apeeds to sinister worms again.
Thankya kindly, pard.
The mobile/tablet game is something that was definitely tooling in the back of my brain as we built the whole thing diegetically with the one-button input scheme, so the vote of confidence in that regard feels really validating
Not gonna lie, when I saw that this game was another Pokémon Ranger colone, I was going to drop it in a minute. Then the narrative kicked in and I was a little curious, so I went on. Nice move, at least it feels different from the others.
Thanks for sticking with us! I actually have no idea what Pokemon Ranger is, so I'll have to give that a look. Cheers!
