How does your game fit the theme?
As Steve Lacy once said - I pick my nose, it's a Bad Habit! Be the hero this world deserves, help a dude out by breaking his bad habit. (Habits are loops too) Game: You’re a "nosy" stranger on a train on a mission to help someone break their nose-picking habit. Your challenge? Stop them as many times as possible before the train stop, just 30 seconds away! Oh, and the dude also fakes it so don't be rude and stop him when he's NOT picking his nose.

The game is very creative, I just felt it was a bit short. Great job!

very good character design, was into the sound effects and spanish!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback and rating!
I'm glad you liked the character and sound.

Submitted(+1)

Short, simple, enjoyable. Fits to the theme. Really reminds me of some old games on flash. The ambience feels to be missing train or bus sounds, but it doesn't affect the experience much

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it!
I added an ambient train sound, but kept the volume low since I haven't developed a mute option for the audio.

Submitted(+1)

Simple game but works with the theme quite well!

Developer

Thank you!

its creepy and funny at the same time. nice job

Developer

Thank you!

Interesting "pick" of a direction to take the theme.  I struggle a bit with the idea to track a high score when the highest you can score is in the single digits and that is mostly at the whims of the RNG.  Funny theme and fitting artwork.

Developer

I see what you did there ;)
I didn't conceive the idea as an RNG when I started thinking of it, but then the time constraints and solo dev made me adapt it. Yes, I could have improved on the RNG design for the game, and people are right about feeling it that way.
Thank you for the feednback though!

This game felt very awkward. I have so many questions. Did he ask me to help, why do I care this much about this, why do I have to touch his nose to restart, are we stuck in some sort of time loop that we can't escape until he stops picking his nose????????  In all seriousness the art was great and it was a very fun 1m. Congrats on submitting!

Developer

I feel some questions are more internal or rhetorical, perhaps, but I'll try to answer the best way I can. He didn't ask you to help, hence you're a "nosy" stranger. Some people get bothered by the actions of others, so maybe you care cause it's bothering you too? You have to touch his nose to restart cause you were already touching his nose for a successful input. Habits are loops as well, and we keep repeating those actions, so no, it's not a time-loop, instead an action loop. You can also choose not to stop him.

Again, I'm not sure if the questions were meant to be answered, but thank you so much for the feedback!

This is an interesting interpretation of the loop theme. The game itself is a bit short. The art style fits the games theme well :)

Developer

Thank you for providing the feedback and I'm glad you liked it!

Really creative! Very different from the other games I've played this jam. Not very deep, but it could be! With some more love and time. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for live-streaming, playing, reviewing the game and having a conversation with me!

Felt a little bare-bones, but the art looks great and really fits the vibe of the premise! Would love to see this fleshed out with some of the more varied and in-depth mechanics you mention in your other comments. :)

Developer(+1)

I'm so happy to receive this comment!

It boosts motivation to work on the game when people say they would love to see a fleshed-out version, and also read the other comments. Thank you for playing and rating the game, friend!

Very simplistic but nicely drawn. For the length it's okay but it definitely misses a punishment for spam clicking which currently is a valid strategy.

Developer (3 edits)

You're right; I need to add and balance specific mechanics to make the punishments more evident and fun. There are many more interesting mechanics designed for this game that I couldn't develop because I prioritised the hand-drawn art aspect.
Thank you for the feedback, though!

Its an okay game i guess, imma be real there isnt really much of a game here, but the art is definitely nice! only that the game itself kinda falls short on any real gameplay of sorts, dont be discouraged though!

Developer (1 edit)

I have classified this game as interactive fiction or a point-and-click game. However, you're right about its depth and challenge. There are many more interesting mechanics designed for this game that I couldn't develop because I prioritised the hand-drawn art aspect.

We can't win it all, can we?

Thank you for the feedback, though! You've got a great rain world-inspired game.

The dude was looking into my soul, he really wanted to pick his nose, but luckily I was able to stop him. I like a lot the approach to the theme!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Submitted(+1)

That’s one really interesting take on theme. Though would’ve loved to see a bit more on the gameplay as it feels way too short.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, there are many more interesting mechanics designed for this game that I couldn't develop because I prioritised the hand-drawn art aspect.

Thank you for the feedback though!

I like the creativity of this - could see a lot more different scenarios of different habits that you help people break.

In the dude's defense, he really did need to clean his nose :)

Developer(+1)

Between the two of us, I designed five additional bad habits and came up with 14 in total. I couldn't develop them due to solo development, but now that this game has received so much love, I'll create them and improve.
Thank you for the feedback though!

I liked interpreting the loop as a habit, nice little concept. Great art as well!

I like how the fakeouts gives a little more depth, but there doesn't seem to be real penalty for touching the nose at the fakeouts. Maybe reduce the time left to penalize?

Developer

That's an excellent idea for the penalty; I'll think about it and implement something when I turn this into a full-fledged game!
Thank you so much for playing and giving out the feedback!

What a creative way to interpret loop! Should have made it into an exciting arcade game where he keeps doing different bad habits and you constantly clicking them (just like whack-a-mole) to extend the time bar and gain score. Really fun to play. My highscore is 6.

Developer

I love where your mind went with that idea! I will work on this project to turn it into a full game full of wit, humour and challenge.

Thank you so much for playing and giving out this feedback!

The idea of this game is very unique, a little too unique... 🥴

The artworks and visuals are very well done.

One suggestion I have (if you're looking to further develop the game post-jam) is that the game can have more minigames, or even a story mode. It can be about helping others, or even yourself as the player to break free from more bad habits.

All in all, great game, and keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the feedback; it's as if you read my mind!

I've planned and designed a lot for this game, taking your feedback into account, and I'll release a more content-loaded version based on the feedback I have received!

Submitted(+1)

i like the interpretation of the theme as a habit, something i haven't seen elsewhere in the jam! the graphics are very nice, i can tell a lot of effort went into them, easily the clear standout from the game. the gameplay itself is simple but i like that he jukes you out, adds a lot of depth to an otherwise one note mechanic. my only real criticism is the fact that he can go a long time without actually picking his nose, i think if you made this slightly more likely and maybe made it so you got more time every pick itd elevate the experience a bit and allow players to go for crazy high scores. overall though, this absolutely has the bones of a really great arcade game. good work!

Developer

Thank you for the appreciation!

I love the idea of it being an arcade game, and yes, I do plan to consider and implement all the feedback to the game when I work on it for a full  release after the jam.

Submitted(+1)

very goofy idea!

I have a few recommendations:

- I saw someone suggesting other actions like scratching their head which could add variety

- I did get a run where they didnt pick their nose once, and a way to make it so that the randomness feels less unfair would be to have an array [0,0,0,0,1,1,1,1], and then you shuffle said array, and then you pick actions from it: 1 being picking their nose, 0 being a fakeout (ensuring that they always pick their nose the same number of times every run)

I enjoyed this! and i can see the potential to have more actions, and more things to do to prevent those actions.

Highscore of 5!

Developer

Thank you for the suggestions! They are truly great ones, especially the array one.

I do plan to add a lot of variety and a better balance for the actions post the game jam when I make this into a full-fledged game.
