Aww, I played the demo and this project seems like it has so much potential ♥ I'm a solo dev, so I know all the hard work it takes to make a vn and understand completely about burnout. I'm pretty much a jack of all trades when it comes to visual novels, so if you need someone to help with the sprites or anything else, I would be happy to lend a hand. I'll be cheering for you regardless, hang in there! :3
Also if you want to do it with something that has more than one attribute (such as eyes that change expressions), then you just have to do this for each attribute.
group eyes:
auto
attribute neutral default:
"brianne_eyes_neutral_[eyecolor]"
attribute angry:
"brianne_eyes_angry_[eyecolor]"
attribute sad:
"brianne_eyes_sad_[eyecolor]"
attribute surprise:
"brianne_eyes_surprise_[eyecolor]"
attribute irritated:
"brianne_eyes_irritated_[eyecolor]"
attribute flirt:
"brianne_eyes_flirt_[eyecolor]"
I know it's too late to offer advice, but what I do for layered images with variables is just use the variable within the layered image itself.
layeredimage brianne:
group hair:
auto
attribute hair default:
"brianne_hair_[haircolor]"
Then all you have to do is change the variable based on what the user selects. And if you set it as the default layer, then it'll automatically show it whenever the character appears on screen. Much more simpler than bothering with condition switches.
Being self-taught programmer, when I first started playing around with layered images, I searched everywhere for a solution to this, but couldn't find one and eventually just had to mess around with it before I figured out how to do it myself. It's all just trial and error. :3
I've already voted on Bluesky, but just wanted to leave my two cents concerning the matter of interest and social media. I wouldn't blame yourself. 200 is still an impressive number imo! And you've accomplished so much to be proud of! Unfortunately from my personal experience when it comes to social media, most people tend to "Follow" or "Download" without actually looking to engage. I have hundreds of followers on here and Bluesky, and my projects have thousands of downloads, but only 5-10 mutuals who are actively liking, reposting, or leaving comments.
Most of the active discussions I get from social media in regards to my creative projects comes from smaller friend groups or servers with fellow creators on Discord. But honestly—coming from someone who would take 1 real friend over 1,000 + "followers"—I'm content with how things are. However, because I don't really care about getting my name out there (that's not what motivates me, as I'm a very "self driven" person) naturally I'm terrible at advertising, so I may not be the right person to listen to when it comes to marketing advice. ^_^;
Anyway, just wanted to share my own experience/perspective and say I think you're doing a great job ~ :3
Sorry, while you can start a romance with both Wayward and Slayer in chapter one, there's no real "spicy" scenes in it yet. Admittedly, I did started working on a sex scene with them, so that's why there may be some nsfw files in the current version, but I haven't officially added it into the story. I decided to wait, so it didn't feel too rushed or forced. ;P There will certainly be sex scenes included in future chapters (including the one I initially wrote most likely), but for now there's only a building up to that point. The code is there for the nsfw scene, but you'll have to manually edit the code yourself if you really want to view it. Sorry for the confusion! ^_^;
Ah! Okay I think I figured it out (for real this time). xD I'm assuming you'd already visited all four date locations, right? The issue was that after the confession scene, it takes you back to the choose a location menu. But since you've already chosen all the locations, there was no where to pick, so it just took you to the next section in the code which just happened to be Dan Heng's confession scene.
Version 1.2.2 should fix the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience! Let me know if this wasn't the case and the problem persists or you have any more issues. And check out my walkthrough (it's in the dev logs) if you're having trouble getting that Jing Yuan ending. :3
This can probably explain a graphics card better than I can:
I'm honestly not all that tech savvy, I just know whenever I have an issue with graphics, the first thing to check is if the graphics card driver needs an update. Regardless I'm pretty sure it's a compatibility issue with your computer as opposed to a bug or something I can fix on my end. I've tested it both on my computer and my fiance's and they both display the sprites just fine. Sorry I can't be of more help ^_^;Aww, thank you so much for the kind words, this comment made my day! ^///^ ♥ You completely nailed the vibes I was going for. I'm glad you enjoyed it and were able to make a connection with Igy. I try my best to make my characters and relationships as authentic as possible in terms of emotion, personality, and identities, so it warms my heart to hear that others are able to relate to them on various levels. I'm hoping I can finish tying up the loose ends of their story by the end of the year. Regardless, I've really been enjoying writing these characters and their love stories. They will always hold a special place in my heart ~ ♥
I do love my polyships (specifically polyfidelities) and agree 100% there needs to be more representation out there ~ ♥
I am glad you appreciate them hehe ~ ^_^
I'm focusing on other projects atm, but am really looking forward to continuing this series as well!
I'll probably release next chapter sometime in 2025. Hope you'll look forward to it ~ :3
