Facebook

I'm about done with Facebook. I always hated how they pick and choose what and who you see so I had a customized list which they used to let you do. I put all the people and pages that I wanted to see on it and then click on the list and it would order it by most recent. I would scroll down until I got to the spot where I left off last time. I got to see everything that I wanted to see. If someone posted a bunch of the same stuff every day, I just removed them from the list, I didn't have to unfriend them, just made it so I didn't see them anymore.

The last couple of weeks, Facebook has changed the list and it now does the same crap as their newsfeed. Only shows me what they want me to see. I see the same posts for a couple of days. I don't want to see what I've already seen. I don't want to have to scroll through all that just to see what I haven't seen. So like I said, I'm about done with it all.

Let's take a look at all my social media and how I view it.

  • Facebook - look at my list and my memories for that day. For now.
  • Instagram - only view the stories, will occasionally scroll through the feed when I'm bored, but not very often.
  • Pinterest - only post my cards from my blog. Don't view anything at all.
  • Snapchat - I send my streaks out daily and view streaks sent back to me. I'll go through the feed once a day but I only have a couple of people who posts regularly.
  • Tik Tok - I only check it when I'm pooping at home (I hate when people watch videos in the bathroom in public places.)
  • Twitter (personal) - I have a list of people of who I actually follow. I check it daily but doesn't take more than a few minutes to get through it.
  • Twitter (sports) - Same as above. This list has card blogs and other sports figures but again, doesn't take more than a few minutes to get through it.

With all of those above, I rarely post anything to any of them. My twitter accounts I post links to blog posts but as far as anything personal, extremely rare.

So when someone asks me if I could live without Social Media, yeah, I really could live without it. It's not a huge deal in my life. Do I enjoy it? Sure. Do I have to have it? Nope.

I don't understand the obsession with Facebook to begin with. I see people in their cars while driving to work at 4 am in the morning scrolling through it. Is it really that important that you can't drive without looking at it? I see people at work constantly pulling their phones out and checking it. I just don't understand it at all.

For the record, I rarely, and I mean rarely ever use social media on my phone, other than Snapchat and TikTok because that's kind of their thing but as stated above, I don't use them often. When do I look at social media? Usually sitting in my recliner on my laptop in my living room. Not in the car, not at work, not while hanging out with my friends (if I had any).

When I get bored, I will admit I get on Reddit on my phone but it's not that often. Usually if I'm sitting there with some time to kill for something.

I just truly don't get the obsession.

Week #13 of 2016

I actually had a good week, walking wise that is. I went walking after work on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. I got over 8,000 steps (my daily goal) every work day this week. Monday was a nice day so I headed out after work. Tuesday was chilly and windy so I opted out. Wednesday was nice again so I went but on Thursday, it was chilly and windy but I had to take my car in to get looked at and rather then just sitting in the lounge waiting, I brought my walking stuff, dropped off the car and went for a walk. The route I picked ended up being 2.4 miles (I usually walk a little over 2 miles). It kicked my ass but it wasn't the extra mileage, it was using a sidewalk and for part of it, I had to walk through grass and avoid water areas. The concrete they use on the sidewalks doesn't agree with my shin splints. I seem to do ok on asphalt or whatever else roads are made of, but the sidewalks didn't agree with me.

On Friday, I had to stay after work because the 2nd shift guy didn't show up, plus it was chilly again so once again I opted out. Saturday, however, was sunny and in the 60's but we know I never walk on Saturday. I decided to get my ass out there and go. I walked down to my mom's house, which ended up being 2.7 miles. She then drove me home since I had to go pick up the kids and she was heading towards my house anyways.

Since yesterday ended up being 2.7 miles, I decided to up it today and walked a 3 mile route. I had to walk past my house about 100 feet and back just to get the 3 miles but I got it. I haven't decided if I'm going to stick to the 2 miles after work or do the 3. I'm definitely doing the 3 on days I don't work but since I get so many steps at work, I may only do the 2 on those days.

Day 89 (Madison, WI) - 290.2 Miles

With my 3 mile walk today, that should put me where I wanted to walk by in Madison tomorrow, so maybe I'll even get a post out.

Apparently I didn't tweet so much this week.

My wife hates being called that so you know I'm going to teach them. I already told the 2 kids that live with me and told the oldest daughter and they all agreed to teach their kids to call her that.

58,336 steps isn't the most I've ever had in a week but it's been a long time since I've had that many. We'll see if I can't beat it this week.

Week #12 of 2017

I'm blaming the fact that I worked over 60 hours this week for not posting any. It's probably not true but it's a legitimate excuse. Just don't let anyone in my family know that I complained about all those hours because my brother averages that every week and I get no sympathy, they just compare my normal week to his. In case you haven't read my tweets in the last couple of weeks, he's the better brother.

My hours will go back to normal next week. We had inventory on Friday and Saturday. For some reason, we had to work 10 hours on Monday and Tuesday to "prepare" for inventory. I was supposed to work normal hours Wednesday but the 2nd shift guy called in so I stayed over. Normal hours on Thursday, then Friday was scheduled 12 hours and Saturday they didn't let me go home until 13 1/2 hours later. Most of that time was sitting on my ass but it still wasn't very relaxing.

Day 83 (Lake Mills, WI - 257.5 Miles)
I'm out in the middle of nowhere so not much going on. It's finally warmed up to the 60's and 70's but it's been raining. Also, I worked a lot so not much extra walking last week. Hopefully, next week I'll be able to go walking after work and make up all those weekends. At least I only have to make up one day this weekend since I worked yesterday.

That win was nice, but it was the last one.

I swear I forget something every Monday. Either my biscuit or silverware for my lunch.

I don't care if we lost, you always have to represent. Although, that hat is now gone. Someone stole it Friday night because I leave it at work. It was a ratty work hat so I'm not sure why someone wanted it.

I thought it was funny.

I support pretty much everything that has to do with the Wolverines.

He's usually hiding in his room all evening but he was out here talking our ear off.

They fuck you in the drive-thru

Heard it again, I wonder if there will be a week that I don't hear it.

Ignore that 54 floors, it's never right. It's usually to low but one day said I had 20 some floors and it was my normal day where I get 5 to 7.

Another week with no posts

I guess I'm back to my not posting very often. So at least for now, you'll get these on Sundays.

Day 75, Oconomowoc, WI (235.9 Miles)
I am still keeping track of my steps and mileage on Google Maps, I just haven't posted it here in awhile. Right now I'm in the middle of a couple of fields in Wisconsin. As of right now, I'm touring all the MLB stadiums with other stops along the way. Of course, there aren't very many around here. I was planning on going walking today, it was supposed to be sunny and in the 50's but it hasn't turned out that way. I'm really going to have to walk my ass off this summer just to get caught up to my 8,000 steps a day goal. I'd hate to see how many steps I'm behind. Let's find out, give me just a second and I'll do some math. I'm 113,161 steps behind. I've been averaging around that 8,000 a day on work days but the weekends have been bad. Next week I'm working overtime so that will help. We'll see where I'm at after this summer and the weather is better. If I walk 2 miles after work it only takes 2 days to make up one weekend day so I can definitely make up the steps, now just getting the weather to cooperate.

Remember when I said I was trying to tweet more? Yeah, sorry. It's also March Madness time so, yeah, sorry again.

We like both shows so what's not to like.

Like I said, it's March Madness.

See, I don't hate everyone. I do like underdogs, to bad they couldn't get their first win though. Plus they are Big Ten, I root for them all at this time of the year.

We are coming down to the final 3 episodes of the season and I can't wait. The group is (hopefully) going to rise up and fight Negan.

It's true, I can't wait until Sunday to watch it but afterwards, I'm usually heading for bed and starting my work week.

I swear the stupid thing never works. It'll either jump 2 spots when you push the down button which blows right past the Playlist button or it just won't load any of the Playlists if you did get it.

I love baseball.

I was heading into work and had already clocked in and walked through one department and just had the feeling that it was down, I don't know if it was drafty or what but I just happen to reach down and sure enough, I never zipped up my fly that morning. At least I noticed.

She does this, especially this time of the year (Easter) because they are easier to find. I then take the black ones to work and give it to a fellow jelly bean lover there.

Didn't need the tissues at all. It wasn't as dramatic as they set it up to be. Still a great show though.

I do these occasionally, this was a retweet.

Like I said last week, I hear it all the time.

That would be my wife, in case you couldn't figure that out. She was on her way to meet our oldest daughter and brought me some breakfast. I just wish she would do it without me asking. If I don't mention it the night before, it won't happen.

I really felt naked without because I pretty much have it on all the time. I only take it off to shower and sleep. It sucked because I felt like I had a pretty good day. I gave myself 8,000 steps, which is what I want to average but to be honest, I think I probably had more than that.

March Madness again.

That was Friday night before bed. I have since loaded up my Tumblr accounts so they are good for a little bit. I save stuff throughout the week and then tend to queue a bunch over the weekend to post throughout the week.

She listens to hard rock now but I had to introduce her to one of the greats from back when I was jamming out to rock n roll. She did know some about half the songs that I played her and I played probably 10 or 12 tracks.

I record all their games and then usually only watch the ones they win but since it's Spring Training and the winning doesn't really matter, I watch them all. Plus, I'm just so ready to start watching baseball again I just had to watch.

I finished Whispers of the Dead and gave it 4 stars, I started Peace Warrior on Friday so I haven't gotten very far yet.
