singing

from "singing"

Just posted off my first copy of my new zine "singing". It's a little folded page of 8 rather intense singers done originally on tracing paper so that some of the images would show through, giving an animated feel. Didn't work so copied it onto opaque paper. I think they're still rather animated and would probably not make it to the Sydney Opera House. Send me your address and I'll send you one, that will give them a small audience which will make them happy.

TRAVEL HEADS III

I've just listed another little zine “Travel Heads III”  containing 6 colour photo-copies in zig-zag book format in my store micro. The colour laser copied images are from my visual diary “Travel Heads”,  I finished  a few years ago using mixed media. The cover size is 150 x 105mm with the colour images a little smaller. All my little books are copyright Jack Oudyn so please don’t reproduce any part of my work without my permission. I still  have some of the original art and it will be given a public airing at Redland Art Gallery in May, 2012.
“Travel Heads III” is in a limited edition of 30 and each book is numbered and signed by the artist.

Fish Book Two - by MICRO on madeit

"Fish Book Two"

Fish Book Two - by MICRO on madeit
Fish Book Two is another small book I made a while ago. I have only two books left and have listed them in my new store Micro.  I hope I have done it correctly, some of my friends have been unable to find it. When I click onto the title of this blog (or the last two) it takes me there. I hope it works the same for you. Pay me a visit and let me know what you think. There are now four Fish Books which have been collected by the State Library of Queensland. They are all in editions of 50 but "Fish Book One" is sold out completely and Fish Book Two almost so.I still have a few Book 3 and 4. They are all 8 page booklets, stitched, numbered and signed.

Persona" Different Hats - by MICRO on madeit

Persona" Different Hats - by MICRO on madeit

Cover of "Persona: Different Hats"

colour centrefold

I've finally taken the step of setting up a store with "madeit" to see if anyone is interested in the art stuff that I make, particularly the artist books and zines. I'm still trying to get set up but the system seems friendly enough. At least being aussie based you don't have to post OS all the time. This makes the cost of cheap little books exorbitant. Not sure if I'm quite in the right environment though. Not a lot of "art" but a lot of kiddies clothes (all hand-made of course) I know artist books is a largely little known genre of art endeavour here in Australia but this test may give me more feedback.... or maybe not??

As well as "Persona: different Hats", I'm putting some of my remainders books on. A blast from the past particularly "Empire Unmade"

"From Shells" is a tiny handmade 8 page zine made from one folded A4 page. The little zine is 75mm X 105mm and each one is numbered and signed by the artist (that's me). They contain colour copies of 8 tiny mixed media drawings inspired by sea shells. The first 10 of the edition have sold so if you have your eye on one let me know quickly and you can have one for the princely sum of $3.00 which will cover the cost of production and I'll post it to you as well for no extra cost. You may like to visit my store to check out my other little surprises.

zine finished

"black card cover with individualised print"
inside cover and Nepalese paper end-sheet

acid free centrefold

signed end page and Nepalese paper end-sheet

I have finally bound and completed a sample of my little booklet of poems "Persona: different hats". The poems were my response to an art exhibition for the Mind in Art group held a few years ago at Redland Art Gallery,Cleveland.
The edition will be limited to 30 signed copies and include a centrefold of 2 images of my works related to the poems. The booklet of 12 pages is hand sewn and printed on 120gsm paper, the centrefold is acid free. I have sewn in some handmade paper end sheets to finish off the booklet.
This replaces a little Japanese style stab-bound book I made for these poems earlier. That edition of 10 became exhausted and I've had some requests for the poems hence the new edition.
I plan to sell these online once I get a shop organised (not sure how to do this yet - let me know if you have any advice re Etsy etc). You can visit my store where this little zine will be on sale for Christmas.
I will send the first half dozen  to interested people who get in touch with me via my email jackoudyn@bigpond.com and will look forward to their feedback.
