Martian whimsy

I fancied making something a little more whimsical for Mars... Why not a bandstand and some gardens.

For the bandstand the roof was printed and most of the base and the railings were laser cut. Plastic stonework sheeting was used for the base sides and the steps were cut from xps foam (I think, the brand name is Foamex).

The columns were brass tube with four pieces each. I won't be doing that again as I went through 16 scalpel blades lol. The handrail on the railings was just some half round microstrip.

Painting was fairly simple as I kept most of the parts removable. 

 

The gardens were mainly lasercut (including the topiary hedges which then had growies stuck on them). The plants inside the glasshouses are just various bits and bobs I've had knocking around and the plant pots are available from here 

Painting was kept in the same vein as the rest of my Mars terrain and I'll need to do some high walls to surround it. I've also got a colonial style mansion that's in need of some love to go with it.

Couple of European builds

Similar to what's been done before but with the addition of some 'gardens' at the rear.

Buildings these always wants me to make a few for myself but I really need some figures first before justifying it lol

Dutch town hall

Nice little build for a regular client. 28mm and based on a real one (can't remember whereabouts exactly it is though).

Drawn in cad and lasered, sprayed and masked then weathered with inks and drybrushing.

The slowest hunk of junk in the galaxy

I had this started a year or two ago and it stayed in the same state up until a short while ago where I dug it out and got it finished. It was basically two boxes joined together by an unfinished one.

The joining 'box' was finished off and then the panelling began. Styrene cut to size for the most part with some choice bits from the bits box for the rest. Some bits aren't quite square but you can't really tell now it's painted.

The cargo is magnetised and I'll be doing other load outs to go with it.

It was sprayed an off white and given a liberal coat of GW brown ink which was wiped off with a clean cloth. A sponge was used for the weathering of the flaked paint and some rust washes were added as well. A few pastel streaks here and there along with a painted cockpit and it was good to go.

Originally intended for 28mm (of course) but it's also good for smaller scale actions as well; the last pictures showing the Bandai Vehicle box fighters (in an unpainted state but once I get some egress tubes done I'll take some more photos)

Large Plancenoit build

This is one of the larger commissions I've been working on recently. It's around 400mm x 800mm and is of course 28mm :-)

These are just some quick photos as I don't have a decent sized setup for it yet but I've got the Grande Armie coming on loan later this week so I'll do a proper set up with a larger area and take plenty of decent photos. I'll probably even do a video. Hopefully decent photos ater next week :-)
