Dio
"Dio" (ディオ) is the second number of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood musical. It is performed by Mamoru Miyano, the actor of Dio Brando.[1]
The number depicts Dio reflecting on his mother and father, loosely adapting his monologue from page 17 of Chapter 1.
Lyrics
Original
Romaji and English Translation
Chōshi wa dō dai? Jibun ni tazuneru
Ubaware tsuzukete kurui-sō sa
Makeinu-tachi no akushū ga suru
Mō jigoku sa hakike o moyōsu
How's it going? I ask myself
I keep having things stolen from me, it's driving me mad
The stench of deadbeats fills the air
This is already hell, the way it makes me sick
Sore demo haha wa kedakaku are to
Hokori o toite dakishimete kureta
"Nē Dio, hoshi o miagete goran"
Haha wa sō ii tsuzuke yamai de shinda
Mamonaku
Even so, my mother told me to stay noble
She taught me pride and held me close
"Hey, Dio, try to look up at the stars"
She kept saying that, until the illness took her
Too soon...
Naze te ni nani mo nai, ubawareru bakari ka
Nā Jōsutā, omae wa motte iru no ka
Sono sora wa aoi no ka nā, Jōsutā
Why are my hands always empty? Am I only meant to lose?
Tell me, Joestar, do you have it all?
Is that sky above you blue? Tell me, Joestar
Minikukute saitei no chichioya
Makeinu wa zutto makeinu datta
A vile and worthless father
A deadbeat will always be a deadbeat
Nigotta kono sora no shita de
Mogaki tsuzukete shinde itta
Isan o ima uketorō
Subete riyō shi sā tabidatō
Under this murky sky,
Struggling till the very end, he died
Now, I'll take my inheritance,
I'll make use of it all, and go forth
Mada te ni nani mo nai, koko kara hajimeyō
Nā Jōsutā, omae wa motte iru darō
Sono sora ni taiyō o, sō daro, Jōsutā
My hands remain empty as always, so I'll start from here
Tell me, Joestar, you have it all, don't you?
Does the sun shine in your sky? Does it, Joestar?
