Who's behind JIM
JIM is built by Tetron Limited, a UK identity-management specialist. The same people who implement identity infrastructure in the field, building the product they wanted to deploy.
Tetron has spent over a decade delivering identity and access management inside organisations with complex, real-world identity landscapes: directories, HR systems, and applications that all disagree about who someone is, and rarely agree on how to fix it. The work has spanned defence, government, healthcare, finance, and critical national infrastructure, the environments where getting identity wrong is not an option. JIM is the distillation of that work, the synchronisation engine we kept rebuilding by hand turned into a product.
We build JIM the way we want to deploy it: self-hosted, source-available, with no cloud dependencies and no phone-home. Taken together, those are what data and operational sovereignty actually require: sovereignty you hold yourself, not sovereignty rented from a cloud provider. The properties that make it a fit for air-gapped and regulated environments are not features we bolted on; they are how we think identity infrastructure should be built.
JIM exists to fill a specific gap: a modern, maintainable successor to the end-of-life, on-premises identity managers that a generation of regulated organisations still depend on and cannot simply lift into the cloud. We had built around those platforms one too many times, kept hitting the same walls, and decided the tooling should be better.
JIM is the result, built over four years: opinionated where it matters, transparent about what it does and does not do yet, and honest about the roadmap.
