  If I remember correctly, Kai was “obliterated into a bright light, being destroyed by the same power he sought to obtain” at the end of Kung Fu Panda 3. Not trapped in some spirit realm cage for stealing the chi of every kung fu master, his soul was extinguished entirely. He no longer exists in this world beyond his memory.
