Rewatched this via hbo max as the first three episodes of the series instead of the last son of krypton dvd I own. I’m gonna try and watch through the whole series and log it on my serialzd, figure nows a good time to re-advertise it here for those who haven’t followed yet: srlzd.com/u/HAL98
Anyway the first three episodes rule and it was fun to see them again. Kinda weirded out by the opening intro as it’s just clips from…

★★★½ Watched

Mission impossible was always one of those franchises I never really pursued but always heard good things. I had always wanted to watch these films but never found the time to do so. I’m glad I finally nutted up and decided to give them a gander because every installment has been so much fun. ★★½ Rewatched 1

The title drop feels straight out of a later sequel for a slasher. The three claw marks symbolizing a three is so cheesy, not something you’d expect with the first one. Kinda makes for a great tone setter though, this one is not to be taken seriously and yeah you couldn’t even if you tried. There’s that whole subplot about the eggs being brought back to the raptors and in a better movie I feel like they’d try to connect…

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

★★ Rewatched

I realized this time around how ill fitting the music during the raptor confrontation in the abandoned buildings felt. It’s supposed to be a very tense scene of our characters in danger and yet the score is this weird upbeat jazzy sounding music with bongos. Here I am trying to take this movie seriously and it makes such an odd choice that takes me out of the story I was already on thin ice with.
Still has its cool moments here and there but also remains such a weirdly low energy film and a lousy follow up to one of the most beloved cinematic classics.
