Aktok is an ancient serpent deity in the lore of Dota 2.

Description

Little is known about Aktok himself besides being an ancient snake deity who is destined to swallow the world. He has a set of golden decorated armor that's dedicated to him and he has a gilded green eye that bestows vast power to those who wield it. Aktok currently remains dormant until he awakens to fulfill his catastrophic destiny.

Worship

Aktok is worshipped by an obscure cult from an unknown village whose shamans would gather once each season in a certain underground area to offer sacrifices to their god. The village cult (who were all killed and eaten by Lesale) had a greedy high priest who kept his god's armor in one of his rooms in spite of his professed devotion to his lord Aktok. It's implied the cult is oblivious to Aktok's existence in the flesh despite their belief in this god.

Heroes

Fate would intertwine the threads of Venomancer and Aktok when the former retreated into an underground area sanctioned by a cult for sacrifices to Aktok. Mistaken for the god's herald, Lesale received the offerings and later trailed the shamans to their village to prey upon them. While searching for food in their village, he found a set of Aktok's armor stashed in the late high priest's rooms. The armor fitted him surprisingly well, and later on he found Aktok's gilded eye which infused him with immense power that proved the god's existence in this world.

• The aesthetics of Aktok featured in his cosmetics are inspired by the Feathered Serpent of many Mesoamerican religions, such as Aztec and Mayan mythologies.
