Ash the Defiler is a character in Dota 2.[1][2]
Trivia
[edit]- Besides the obvious reused model, Ash draws heavily from Leshrac's lore.
- They both have similar personalities in which both are pessimistic nihilists, which can all be seen in the one dialogue he has in Aghanim's Labyrinth where he talks about the abyss, the inevitability of death, and his indifference to the things that the player will do onwards on account of the latter.
- Ash references Leshrac's kill line ▶️ “A thousand of your kind have fallen before me.” when he says “With the knowledge that thousands of your kind have appeared before me...”
- He is themed around Leshrac's themes. For example, he is referred to as “the Defiler” (defiling is what Leshrac does) and the place he is from is known as the “Weald of Torment” which may be somewhere in the heart of nature where torment abounds in this evil version of nature.

[edit]- ↑ Aghanim's Labyrinth: The Continuum Conundrum - Ash the Defiler dialogue: I would make you choose, mortal. With the knowledge that thousands of your kind have appeared before me, brief flickers of warmth in the comforting abyss, quickly dissipating into a state of nothingness functionally no different from the professed state of order in which they came within my sight. For nothing they could accomplish would weight worthy in the eyes of one such as me. So choose that which you take from here, knowing that I care not what you choose, and that you go forth towards either victory or defeat, but most certainly continuing upon an unrelenting march towards death.
