Biography

[edit]

One of Abate's breakout performances was at Fight Pitt V in 2014. After being knocked into losers by Colbol in the winners semi-finals, he defeated Dizzkidboogie and Duck to earn a rematch with Colbol in losers finals. After falling to a 0-2 deficit, he managed to win the next 2 games and brought the final game to a last stock scenario, but a misinput brought his run to a halt at 3rd place.

Abate is known for his timely misfires. Some of his more memorable instances include vs Duck at the aforementioned Fight Pitt V and vs Hax at Zenith 2013, where Abate ended up defeating Hax 2-1 in one of his biggest set wins ever. The particular set has over 250,000 views as of 2023.

His best performance at a major tournament was at The Big House 5 in 2015. Throughout his run, he took sets off of Kira, Axe, and S2J (in an infamous fashion due to an interference from the Invisible Ceiling Glitch) to find himself in the winners quarter-finals against Mang0. He was 3-0'd, but subsequently defeated Duck once again to qualify for Top 8; he was finally eliminated at 7th by Shroomed in another 0-3 sweep.

On December 1, 2017, Abate was picked up by the Pittsburgh Knights.[1]

Trivia

[edit]
  • He was originally a Falco main with a Luigi pocket pick before fellow Pittsburgh native player Vudujin convinced him to main Luigi.
  • Along with his win over Hax at Zenith 2013, Abate has also taken sets of the latter's Fox. At Revival of Melee 7, Abate won with a 2-0 sweep, thanks in part to Hax suffering an SD to end the first game. These wins have made Prog deem Abate to be Hax's "bracket demon".
