The neoliberal world order as we know it is collapsing under the weight of its own contradictions. But celebrations of its downfall are muted by the bleak reality of the world that is rising to take its place. Every day, our screens are flooded with images of war, genocide, and AI slop. And we all know we’re living in dark times.

So, what does this mean for us, and how do we move forward?

KCRW Question Everything.

Two veteran journalists set out to document Israel’s systematic destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system: hospitals attacked, medical workers killed, doctors detained without charge. The BBC commissioned the film. Then pulled it.

Sometimes killing a story is routine. Sometimes it’s a scandal, even immoral.

I am not saying this is enough or trying to minimize the damage done by IDF or ignore any of the seven myriad lives already lost to murder in the name of war. Maybe many times that, indirectly.

I can’t forget that.

Partners report that since the start of the ceasefire, more than 1.5 million people have received food parcels across Gaza. The World Food Programme (WFP) has distributed food parcels, hot meals and cash to more than 860,000 people since the ceasefire took effect. As community kitchens open in new areas, partners are providing more meals.

Yes!! A million were on the brink of dying and still are but for now🐝 wow.

Also yesterday, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) completed the transfer of a fully equipped field hospital to Gaza that will provide surgery, neonatal care, intensive care, radiology and emergency services. On Saturday, PRCS also resumed medical services at its primary health care clinic in Rafah.

I’m no fan of revenge to begin with, even as I’m steeped in a culture founded on a punitive conceptualization of justice, and then from there taking the leap to this incredibly wack idea that if someone hurts us, we can kill someone * to make up for it.

What makes that wack idea even wilder that it’s so often paired with an idea of escalating revenge. Some sorta cockamamie “OK, we couldn’t get the right guy, but at least we killed 100 people with his eye color, that’ll do for now, more killing tomorrow” perspective.
