Singer-Songwriter D. Ward was born in Washington, DC and started singing at the young age of 5. From church to school choirs, D. Ward honed his musical skills while soaring the heights of classical discipline mixing it with raw urban sound of D.C.'s popular Go-Go sound. Inspired by Clara Ward (American gospel artist who achieved great artistic and commercial success in the 1940s and 1950s, as leader of The Famous Ward Singers), D. Ward knew that music would be his muse.

D. Ward was nurtured early in music by the well-renowned coloratura soprano Harolyn Blackwel who has performed in many of the world's finest opera houses, concert halls, and theaters in operas, oratorios, recitals, and Broadway musicals. After graduating from high school, D. Ward was destined to attend Hampton University on a music scholarship however joined the United States Marine Corps. That still didn't stop D. Ward from continuing his passion on an underground level.

Knowing that the stage was his true calling, D. Ward kept at his craft and performed at various functions for the Prince George's County Police Department and was quickly dubbed "Luther" for the silkiness and the provocativeness of his natural vocals. Word got around of his vocals abilities and he was blessed to sing duets on stage with Toni Braxton and the legendary Patti Labelle during their respective tours in the DC region. Performing on the local and national stages as a member of the historical Go-Go Band Big Tony & Trouble Funk, D. Ward also worked with the Godfather of Go-Go Chuck Brown and Gregory "Sugar Bear" Elliott of Experience Unlimited (E.U.) fame D. Ward has been credited for providing vocals on Trouble Funk's "Hump Day", "Trouble Funk Live: Ultimate Crank" and "Trouble Funk's 35th Anniversary Album. D. Ward has also been credited as Executive Producer on Brad Russell's "The MC".

As music is timeless, D. Ward has proven that he still has plenty to offer. With his new single "Gone", D. Ward strikes at the nerve of lost love never to be regained. His forthcoming album titled "The Journey" the production of this album will ask you to fasten your seatbelt and take you on a roller coaster ride filled with blood, sweat and tears.

D. Ward recently retired from the Maryland Army National Guard where having served a cumulative 24 years of service to the United States of America.
