My Lover, My Son

We located this movie in Montreal in 1994 in French with NO English subtitles......This was an NTSC VHS released in Quebec probably in the 1970's.....The Running Time that we have located is 1 Hour 33 Minutes...No English version has been sighted in Quebec.......Have never seen a better quality version in our 15 years of driving around Quebec and New Brunswick looking for old French movies..........We do not buy films on the internet so not sure what was released on European format......May still be available as an ex-rental but we stopped buying ex-rentals in 2002.....Most have been opened and the original tape replaced with 3rd and 4th generation copies.....It is a god film and a little controversial because of the theme......some of the big auction sites have banned films about incest......Most of the Romy Schneider films we have found in Quebec are in French with no subtitles.....

i hope maximum viewer like the soundtracks as the movie and specially that song which i dunno the title but know few lines and that is WHATS ON YOUR MIND WHAT WILL YOU SAY.from longtime ago i am looking for that song but because i dunno who sang that and i tried my best 2 find out that song but still no luck.hope somebody will help me out 2 know who sang that beautiful song.without doubt i can say that movie soundtracks is just like made for each other as the movie plot and subject.as they combined that great combination of music and movie plot they should help people to know more about that movie soundtracks.by the way i download that movie from some site many days ago and watched it many times already and its true that movie is awesome from every angle.not only acting but also every thing related to make a great movie.those didn't seen that yet i am sure they missed something very very special but as the movie subject depend on taste also because this movie about relation between blood.once again the very known saying stand straight in this movie as we all know LOVE IS BLIND.but those don't believe in this kind of blind love i think they wont like this movie.so what i am sure many like this movie so far as i heard from other viewer in other forums

This movie is really a great one, mostly because of the great performance of Romy Schneider. She looks incredibly beautiful and acts wonderful. I also found the soundtrack very good, there are some excellent songs contained. Too bad there isn't a soundtrack album available, it would be really worth it!! The directing is also very good, I found the various camera movements and angles really well done. So, a DVD and Soundtrack album release would be really appreciated!

My Lover, My son centres upon the story of a mother played by Romy Schneider whose husband dies in a freak accident, she struggles to get over his death and forms an unhealthy attachment to her son James Anderson played by Dennis waterman.

She has been married to her husband played by Donald Huston for quite some time she becomes fixated on the fact James Anderson her son resembles her previous partner as far as personality is concerned the film is about the family dynamic as well as how they cope with the pressure of a most disturbing issue at the centre of the story which is incest.

My lover my son was directed by John Newland a tv director making his big screen debut from having produced and directed a slew of episodes of tv series.

The film also stars ' Patricia Blake', as a love interest of Dennis waterman's character as he attempts to make a life for himself after leading a very strict and regimented lifestyle growing up because of his privileged and upper-class lifestyle.

Newman has a good eye for detail imp articular in showing how people cope with underlying issues such as mental Illness coinciding with the Incest angle images which are constructed using various colour schemes are aesthetically pleasing against the kaleidoscope backgrounds.

The performances for a low budget production of this genre are compelling and solid Donald Huston and Romy Schneider generate passion and intrigue as the parents. Dennis Waterman's character is a bit of an arrogant sone so at the beginning but he comes into his own at the halfway point of the film and learns to be a man and stand on his own two feet.

Patricia Blake and Dennis waterman convince in their Innocence and sincerity as a young couple who are finding themselves in their love lives as well as trying to figure out what do they want from their lives and that the path to their desired future may not come so easily.

The premise of the film could be easily mistook to be a pornographic film but Isn't one at all it's a surprisingly thoughtful and well rounded character study about relationships and lifestyle and whilst not a great film by any stretch of the Imagination I found myself caught up the drama of the Situation and enjoyed what came with it.

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Why isn't it available on DVD or VHS? Is it because of the content? It should definitely be release. The intensity of the movie is outstanding. You are constantly thinking about the plot and on the edge of your seat. Romy gives one of the most wonderful performances any actress has ever given. I was surprise that nothing was ever heard of this movie at the Academy Awards. Maybe the content is too explicit for general release, but, why not put an appropriate label on the movie and release it? I think it is a shame that such on story with great acting is hidden from the public. This is such a well directed and acting movie, it is a shame to hide it from the public. Hope it can be released soon.
