    The Sliders interrupt the abduction of a young woman, Melinda. Quinn is recognized by one of the attackers as a Mallory, prompting the attacker to turn into a bird and fly away. The Sliders pass the woman to the authorities and discover she is the apprentice of a disgraced Druid, Gareth, who's been thrown out of the movement for practicing black magic. Quinn is enamored by the girl and launches a rescue attempt. Gareth senses Mallory's desire for Melinda and uses her as bait. Having succeeded in capturing Mallory, Gareth transfers his own essence into Quinn's body. Meanwhile, Wade casts a spell to help Rembrandt hook up with a girl he likes. The spell backfires and Rembrandt appears to fall in love with Wade. Professor Arturo, knowing of Quinn's fate, links up with Melinda and attempts to rescue Mallory. Arturo discovers he has to badly injure Quinn's body to force Gareth to leave. Once defeated, Gareth withdraws to his castle and exacts revenge on Melinda by sending a dragon to kill her.

    During a jump the sliders encounter a world consumed by fire. As they wait for the next jump, a matter of seconds, Quinn sees some diffused object coming towards them. They jump through the portal as the 'thing' follows them. They arrive in an oil town that has disturbing under currents of union and company actions. The flame creature reveals itself and begins burning everything, multiplying as it goes. As Quinn considers events at the world, he wonders what was really going on. The Sliders go to work at the oil refinery to get money and quickly become embroiled in the union violence. Quinn realizes the significance of the flame creature and its possible intelligence. The Sliders realize their responsible for bringing the flame to this world and the need to rectify things. Arturo and Quinn begin experimenting with ways to communicate. Meanwhile Wade confesses to Rembrandt she wants to have a baby in the near future.

    The Sliders arrive in a USA that is a constitutional monarchy. Arturo is injured during the slide, and Rembrandt is mistaken as the Prince of the USA. Complications set in when Lady Danielle has issues during her pregnancy, and the baby needs to be transferred in Rembrandt's body. Some years earlier a virus swept the world forcing all pregnancies to term during the second trimester. Rembrandt can carry the baby to term, but will miss the slide to do so. Meanwhile intrigue develops as Lady Mary appears to be behind a series of assassinations of the King and his children. Rembrandt begins to grow into his role as a Prince and wonders if they should not tell Lady Danielle the truth and take his chances. Eventually Danielle suspects Rembrandt and he is forced to confess. We soon learn that Mary was hiding the truth of succession and by eliminating other heirs would be able to push her illegitimate son's claim. Mary's plan is uncovered by her son and he forces her to confess. Meanwhile the baby has come early and Arturo is forced to do a successful emergency C section.

    The Sliders arrive in a world virtually crime free. What criminals there are perform on a game show where they play for their lives. Mallory is captured due to previous convictions by his double on the world. The rest of the Sliders go to the studio where the show is made. The correct Mallory sees the show and is dumbfounded by the turn of events. As the trial continues, Wade and Rembrandt decide to uncover any information about the real crime they can. Despite Arturo's best efforts Mallory is found guilty and sentenced to death live on TV.
