poor ending, like a joke with no punchline

I've at this very late stage become a huge ENTOURAGE fan. One of my earliest DVD purchases was THE BIG BOUNCE and I was thrilled to find out Sara Foster was on the show. After Ali Larter in the premiere, DARK ANGEL Jessica Alba in no. 2, wow! Sara Foster! But they screwed it up. The product placement joke was lame, not only lame, but utterly lame. The Johnny Drama & Jimmy Kimmel thing went nowhere, like a joke with no punchline. Sara Foster, her legs are only seen from afar, and she appears not on a par with how Ali and Jessica were shown. Instead, the script peters out towards the end with that lame talk show thing.

Something went really wrong here. I've by now seen the first four episodes, and this is the only letdown. It seems that anybody could have told the scriptwriter you're making a mess of this ending.

    I'm just saying. ENTOURAGE rocks!

    Chase vs. Kimmel

Isn't it nice when you have a famous friend whose agent can get you great seats for any major event in Los Angeles? Yes, it's very nice, and that's probably why this episode of Entourage opens with a boxing match. Turtle and Drama take advantage of the situation, given every celebrity that matters is present, to chat with Luke Wilson about a home theater system they're interested in, and Jimmy Kimmel asks Vince to appear on his show to promote Head On. Vinny accepts without hesitating, only to discover Johnny has some kind of unfinished business with Kimmel.

Aside from the business aspect, the show starts digging in more personal stuff from now on, as this episode introduces Eric's on-and-off girlfriend Kristen (Monica Keena) and the first stages of his relationship with Emily. And though it is E who stars in most of the romantic subplots, Vince gets to do his part as well, most notably in this show when he discovers a former one-night-stand of his is going to be on the show as well.

Following the bad review of the previous ep, the subject is now talk shows, which will have a quite significant part in future episodes. None of those, however, are as hilarious as this, and it is entirely due to one person. No, it's not Jeremy Piven, for once. It's actually Kevin Dillon, who gets away with the best lines of the episode (when accused of loving nothing but himself, he retorts: "What's not to love!") and steals the limelight in the touchingly brilliant ending, well aided by Kimmel. Oh, and those who worry about putting ads in blockbusters should take a good look at the home theater storyline: this is how you do smart product placement.
