The Silent Partner
Robert Matthews is a legendary country and western singer who ends up killing a man who secretly wrote most of his hits, without getting a credit.
Duane Smith is a naive young man who ends taking the rap for the killing. When Colt Seavers comes looking for him, his girlfriend claims his innocence but Colt does not believe her.
Matthews eventually decides to silence Duane for good.
This is country and western country Colt visits. It is all a bit too routine and by the numbers.

The silent Partner
A popular singer convinces his driver to take the rap on an assault charge on a man threatening to expose him to save his career, but the man dies and when Colt and Howie try to bring the driver back they learn there's more to the case than meets the eye. Especially when they see the victim and the singer together in a photo - the singer had told the police that he never seen the man before and that he was trying to rob him.
Meanwhile, the singer's planning to kill him so that he won't recant and that there'll be no further investigation into his link with the dead man.
Solid episode which guest stars Mickey Gillett, the cousin of Jerry Lee Lewis, who plays the shady country singer who has his simpleton chauffeur take the rap for the murder he committed. The victim wrote the singer's songs - songs Gillett took the credit for writing them. There's the usual robust action, and some humour featuring a mechanic who has a penchant of constructing ugly houses on a truck. He talks about like it's a person.
