    An Almost Faultless Episode

The brilliant Charlie Sheen guest stars in an almost faultless episode.

Plot In A Paragraph: Phoebe catches chicken pox just as an old flame (Sheen) arrives in town on two weeks leave from the Navy. Chandler quickly regrets getting Joey a job as a processor in his office. Monica finds herself freaking out that Richard doesn't have any quirks.

Charlie Sheen is brilliant here and a lot of fun, it's a pity he never returned as they said he resurfaced every three years so the potential was there, but by this point he was on "Two And A Half Men" and probably not available or was too expensive.

The Joey and Chandler scenes were some of the best of the season. I'm really loving the Chandler character played to perfection by Matthew Perry this second season. He has been my favourite since the show started.

    • Trivia
The only reason Charlie Sheen agreed to do this episode was because he lost a bet to Matt Leblanc. Charlie and Matt were up for the same role in the baseball movie "Ed". Charlie bet Matt he would get the role. The role had already been offered to Matt, unbeknownst to Charlie, so he told Charlie that he would take the bet only if Charlie agreed to do an episode of Friends if he lost. Matt got the role and Charlie did this episode.
    • Goofs
Ryan is exposed to, develops, and recovers from the chicken pox in his two-week stay with Phoebe, who was sick when he arrived. Though the itchy pox stage may last only a week or two, it takes 10 to 21 days before the first pox actually begin to appear (the incubation period for this disease).
    • Quotes

Monica Geller: [lamenting that Richard isn't as obsessive as she is] I can't believe my boyfriend doesn't have a thing! My boyfriend doesn't have a thing!

Dr. Richard Burke: See, if anyone overheard that, I didn't come off well there.
