    Brilliant episode, so funny.

The girls receive an unexpected visit from Mary, the daughter of a deceased friend. Sixteen-year-old Mary has been kicked out of her home for being pregnant, so the girls take her in. Blanche has been talking to a convict named Merrill, who has plans to meet her.

The Golden Girls moves into the 90s with the first episode of the decade, and it's a classic. It's a great episode with two really brilliant storylines; both have enough material for a whole episode, and the combination is terrific.

It is hilarious, but there's also a serious side, telling a tale of teenage pregnancy.

That scene where Merrill arrives was a classic moment; it was so funny. I think it's actually Sophia who makes this episode shine; Getty is in fabulous form here. That scene with the Doberman was sidesplitting, but the scene with the tied-up chair was glorious.

It features so many golden moments, I loved that moment where Dorothy recounts a story about St. Olaf; it's a hilarious moment.

    9/10.

Blanche has regret trusting a convict, and Sophia is tied up and gagged!

This "Golden Girls" episode from season 5 number 13 which aired in Jan. Of 1990 called "Mary Has a Little Lamb" was funny and well written having two different side stories to follow. A teen girl named Mary who's late mom was a friend of the Girls seeks trust and advice after she gets pregnant from an older guy, as she can not get any support and help from her stubborn tough dad and Mary has no motherly advice since mom has passed that's why Dorothy is such a godmother and helps bring reason and advice. Next in a wild and crazy subplot man chaser southern belle Blanche(Rue McClanahan) takes up a side hobby of having a prison pen pal and this guy is getting released and he goes looking to meet Blanche for a date. A lesson is learned that you should never trust anyone especially a convict as this guy has not changed or became a good boy as seen and this was a highly memorable episode when he robs the "Golden Girl" house taking items like fine gold and diamonds, and old outspoken Sophia(Estelle Getty) is shut up and has a damsel in distress scene as being the only one home at the time Sophia is tied up and gagged by the ex con as he robs the house and escapes, never fear the story ends good as he's caught and goes back to jail. Overall good funny memorable episode that was well written with two different stories.

Dorothy Zbornak: [Sophia enters the kitchen carrying a letter] Oh, hi, Ma.

Sophia Petrillo: Listen to this, "If I were truly free, O fire of my loins, I'd take you to a paradise in the sun where we could lie naked, bronze body against pearl body, locked together in a frenzy of love.

Dorothy Zbornak: Ma, who wrote that?

      Sophia Petrillo: Merrill Kellog.

Dorothy Zbornak: Merrill Kell... Who's he?

Sophia Petrillo: Ask Blanche. It's her letter.

Dorothy Zbornak: [snatches the letter from Sophia] This is from that guy in prison that Blanche has been writing to.

Rose Nylund: How are you going to explain this opened letter to Blanche?

Sophia Petrillo: [taking the letter back from Dorothy] Don't worry. I'll take care of it.

Blanche Deveraux: [entering the kitchen] Good morning girls.

Sophia Petrillo: Good morning, Blanche. Rose opened your letter

[hands it to Blanche and leaves]

      Rose Nylund: Blanche, I didn't!

Blanche Deveraux: Oh, it's no problem, honey. It's just another one of those letters form Merrill. I would read it to you anyway. They're not personal.

Dorothy Zbornak: Not personal! The man says he wants to lie naked with you on a beach.

Blanche Deveraux: Well, sure. And I wrote him I want to make passionate love to him in a hammock suspended between two Magnolia trees. You know that couldn't possibly happen!

Rose Nylund: Well, maybe if you lose a few pounds.

Blanche Deveraux: [obviously miffed] Shut up, Rose.
