Dorothy is desperate to land the role of vice president; unfortunately, she's slipped into an old habit, one Sophia is aware of. Rose begins painting scenes of Old St. Olaf, work that attracts the attention of Blanche's colleague.
It's a bit of a mixed bag this one, not quite a favourite, but it's still a good episode, one with quite a serious message. I can just about swallow the idea of Rose becoming an artist; I'm not quite sure I buy Dorothy being an ex-gambling addict.
It has a couple of amusing one-liners, but it's quite a sour episode; I can't say I loved the tone of it. The best moments had to be Blanche putting Sophia in her place-it's a first-and Dorothy trying to get money out of poor Rose.
That's the first time I've ever heard an American use the term 'Autumn'; I quite like the term 'Fall'; it makes sense. I'm glad we got to see Rose's painting; I thought they were going to keep it from us.
6/10.
