    Gregory Sierra's farewell as Chano

"The Mole" was the second season finale, and the final appearance of Gregory Sierra as Det. Chano Amenguale, also the last time Barbara Barrie's Liz Miller received billing in the opening credits, despite missing all but two of the 22 second season episodes (Barney wears a cast on his foot for the second and last time). Fish must undergo an uncomfortable but not serious operation, the first time in his life he's had to go under the knife (he still has his tonsils). This way, he'll at least save on the ointment he's been buying for 20 years (could've bought a boat!). Severn Darden plays a derelict who wants to spend a peaceful night in a jail cell, failing to reckon with two men guilty of engaging in a drunken brawl at a hotel bar. Harris and Wojo pursue a jewel thief through the sewers, aided by an alligator he tripped over. The nattily dressed Harris is quick to complain (Harris: "it's a $200 outfit, this stuff will never come outta here!" Yemana: "it wasn't designed to!"). As Angelo Molinari aka 'The Mole,' Ron Carey would soon make his presence felt as Officer Carl Levitt, making his debut in "Quarantine." As for the departing Gregory Sierra, his character had featured in every show except "Stakeout," and he would be missed.

Ron Carey will find his niche as Levitt.

Ron Carey was okay as the thief known as the mole. But, he will become a classic sitcom memorable character as Officer Levitt. Most everything clicked well. You could feel Fish's pain as the insurance man brought up bad doctoring. You could almost smell the nasty sewer stink through the screen. Hal Lindon really struggled to get around with the real injury under his cast.

Det. Sgt. Chano Amenguale: Can I help you?

Randolph Cook: Well, that's a very generous offer because sometimes it moves too fast to make friends.

Det. Sgt. Chano Amenguale: What moves too fast.

Randolph Cook: The escalator of life on its way to that biggest of all... mezzanine.

Det. Sgt. Chano Amenguale: That's a very profound thought. You must be a philosopher, eh?

Randolph Cook: No, I'm a bum.
