    Trick or Treat

Granny is homesick. She cannot get used to her Beverly Hills mansion and the people are so unfriendly.

Jed takes her to meet their new neighbours. As it is Halloween and with their hillbilly clothes on. The Clampetts are showered with gifts. They just think the neighbours are just overly friendly.

In fact Jed is disconcerted when he sees the kids of one of the neighbours. Not realising that they have halloween masks on.

Meanwhile Cousin Pearl is coming over. Hoping to find a nice rich oil man to marry. She has brought with her, daughter Jethrine and maybe she might meet an eligible young man in Beverly Hills.

I guess they do not celebrate Halloween in the deep country. I did think the Pearl and Jethrine storyline was there because the makers knew the comedy was getting too formulaic. This includes Elly May playing football with the boys with her ball gown.

    • Trivia
First appearance of Jethro's sister, Jethrine. Max Baer Jr. also plays Jethrine, but Linda Kaye Henning provides the voice.
    • Goofs
When the Clampetts visit their neighbors, Jed rings the doorbell; however, in the previous and next episodes, the Clampetts have no idea what a doorbell is, confounded by the "music" ringing through their house.
    • Quotes

John Brewster: You don't celebrate Halloween here in the hills?

Cousin Pearl Bodine: I never heard of it. What's it like?

John Brewster: Well, uh... uh, it's an occasion where everyone gets dressed up in their most beautiful clothes.

Cousin Pearl Bodine: [laughs] These old things? They're just something I threw together myself.

John Brewster: Well. they look like they come from Saks.

Cousin Pearl Bodine: Well they didn't. I made them with store-bought yard goods.
