I Remember When Nebraska Had Good Football Teams!

This starts out with the foursome out flying kites in a competitive game. Raj and Howard lose because Howard chases after a jogger. The central plot has to do with Penny having some friends over to watch the Nebraska football game. She doesn't include Leonard and he becomes paranoid that she is too embarrassed to introduce him. So he decides to learn football in a week. Eventually, Sheldon teaches him (being from Texas, he knows everything about the game). This leads to some pretty funny stuff at the next party. He quotes things Sheldon has told him and they seem utterly out of place. Quite a funny episode.

    The Continuation Problem

When Leonard and Howard ask Sheldon how he knows so much about football???Sheldon talks about growing up in Texas. However he doesn't mention one ioda about his father being a high school football coach. If only the writers of Big Bang Theory had a crystal ball and they could see what takes place with the future hit Young Sheldon. BBT would have never have had Sheldon and Sheldon's mom say such terrible things about his father throughout the BBT series. The Young Sheldon writers would loved to have not had this problem because anybody who watches Young Sheldon knows that the dad actually plays a quite lovable character. So now it becomes very complicated on how to write out the George character on Young Sheldon. This was a typically funny Big Bang Theory episode but for anybody that watches Young Sheldon they know that it would be quite odd for Sheldon not to have immediately brought up that his dad was a high school football coach when asked about the subject.

    The Cornhusker Vortex

This again feels like a bit of an episode that runs out of steam, but there are more than enough lovely moments for fans to enjoy.

I liked the Raj and Howard storyline too.

    Overall, another good episode.

    • Quotes

      Howard Wolowitz: Sheldon knows football?

      Leonard Hofstadter: Apparently.

Howard Wolowitz: I mean Quidditch, sure. But football?

Leonard Hofstadter: Sheldon, how do you know this stuff?

Sheldon Cooper: I grew up in Texas. Football is ubiquitous in Texas. Pro football, college football, high school football, Pee-Wee football; in fact, every form of football except the original: European football, which most Texans believe to be a commie plot.

      Leonard Hofstadter: Unbelievable.

Sheldon Cooper: If you're interested, I also know all about frying meat that isn't chicken as if it were chicken.

Leonard Hofstadter: So you could teach me?

Sheldon Cooper: Football or chicken fried meats?

Leonard Hofstadter: Football! I'm going to Penny's on Saturday to watch a game with her friends, and I don't want to look like an idiot. I want to blend in.

Sheldon Cooper: If you want to blend in with Penny's friends, I think looking like an idiot would be the perfect camouflage.
