    Realism?

For 7-1/2 seasons viewers have watched this team who consistently breaks all the rules and bucks authority at every turn. Laws are frequently broken by the team. Even murder. Hacking classified databases. Breaking and entering including municipal property.

Members of the team have frequently exhibited behavior that is far more than unprofessional. There have been frequent cases of sexual harassment. There have been pranks that go beyond funny and are often cruel. The show seems to demonstrate that crazy is normal and actually beneficial.

If this is realism, it is no wonder people question government agencies.

Cranston should be able to shut down the team quickly. This episode is a basic contradiction of the show's formula and SOP. The realism of a Cranston investigation and that SOP are contradictory and the premise is nonsense.

Suddenly a nominal twist exposes what is really going on. But that twist has no credibility because of these contradictions.

This situation is similar to the Paloma thread at the end of last season running into the next. Gibb's crimes were exposed and he skated. And here we have another situation where the team skates. It seems to make sense because Cranston's justifies the "disaster" that is team Gibbs, albeit with a warning. But for me it's just a bunch of contradictions.

My point is you can't have it both ways. The only way this formula works is if they are never put under the microscope of realism.

Most of the footage with Agent Todd used the original dialog. With the exception being the scene where Kate is talking to Rachel. The actual footage is from Dead Man Talking (2004), when Kate is talking to "Duane".

There is no way for Abby to determine the country of manufacture for the TT33 from the bullet as they were made to the exact same specifications in several Eastern Bloc countries.
    • Quotes

Dr. Rachel Cranston: A man walks into a bar and asks the bartender for a glass of water. The bartender pulls out a shotgun, fires a blast just missing the man. Man says thank you, puts a tip on the bar, and exits. Why the thank you and the tip?

Special Agent Jethro Gibbs: [Gibbs chuckles] The guy had the hiccups.
