      Fifteen Yards for Tontine

Woodhouse is one of my favorite characters. In this episode, he and Sterling are trying to deal with a baby in the house (the produce of Archer's indiscretions with the hooker). Anyway, as they feed him booze, Woodhouse produces a set of articles from newspapers. All the old World War One guys are dying. This wouldn't be unusual except they had made an agreement called a tontine, that they would each throw in some money, invest it, and the last one alive would realize the fruits of the game. We find out that Woodhouse was a hero, taking on a battery of Germans after they killed his leader, a man he was devoted to. So game on. One of the three left shows up. In telling the tale, we find out that in Tangiers, Woodhouse met Mallory, who was pregnant at the time and assisted in the birth of young Sterling. Of course, he became the complete ass he is because his mother deserted him, giving Woodhouse the task of raising the young boy and not bothering to see him for years. Since then, he has tended to the agents every whim. This is quite an entertaining look at the relationship.
