"Inside Number 9" ends aptly, with a twist. Having suggested that this last episode would be a guest star free two-hander, instead it's a cavalcade of almost everyone who ever been on the show reappearing for an episode as meta as the series has ever been.

It's the wrap party for "Inside Number 9" an anthology comedy series on the BBC, with many of the former guest stars gathered for an evening of drinks and the viewing of a "best of" video. But what's next for the shows writers and stars, Steve Pemberton (Steve Pemberton) and Reece Shearsmith (Reece Shearsmith). They've been given the green light to write a script for a police procedural show, which Reece is enthusiastic about but unbeknownst to him, Steve has auditioned for a big Amazon series based on "Dante's Inferno", which would instigate a move to America and likely the end of their partnership.

Brilliant. A funny finale, playing with the truth, the stories and mythology of the show. Starting the show as the opening episode began, with Katherine Parkinson and Tim Key squeezed into a small space, this time to escape from Anne Reid and snort some coke. Can't say I've ever struggled to tell Katherine and Amanda Abbington apart, but it made for a good gag. As did both Nick Mohammed and Rosie Cavaliero playing exaggerated versions of themselves.

The writing anticipates the "what comes next" questions that the guys have been getting in real life whilst promoting the series and presents tension between them about what the next step will be, it could only have been more meta had they suggested taking the show to the stage. I really want to go back to "CTRL, ALT, ESC" now and see if there is a scene where you can tell that Steve Pemberton's role is being played by a producer in a wig.

It's a truly fitting finale or a show I'm going to miss incredibly. Time to go back and watch "Psychoville" again, I think.

Inside No 9 will probably go down as the most consistent series ever made. I remember recommending this show to a friend a few years ago. When I saw him a week later. He had watched every episode on BBC Iplayer and thanked me for the recommendation.

So here it is. Series 9 and the final episode. It ends inside the number 9 bus.

It started with a tribute to the very first episode, Sardines. As the celebrities cram themselves into a toilet cubicle. Anne Reid looking to snort something, although it all seemed to riff an episode of Extras.

In between they took time to say goodbye and invited many guest stars from past shows. Tributes to those who passed on.

Reece has an idea for a detective show. Only Steve plans to make more money with an American streaming show. It could be the end of a beautiful friendship.

Inside no 9 has been a true gem of television. British twilight zone, matched and possibly compared to (unfairly as of recent) to Black Mirror.

Still this will go down as a strange ending, a weird ending. Regardless of the bizzare, everything this show did was appreciated and I feel like credit couldn't not be given. Nothing else to be said and now I will most definitely, be having a quiet night in.

I'm supposing like some others, that a mysterious episode seven will show up someday. I guess we just wait and see. Well done lads for the show, through thick and thin (big and small) I've enjoyed this show. Congrats and I can't wait to see what's next!

The perfect ending to what is probably the best terrestrial TV programme ever made. What Steve and Reece have achieved in 12 years is nothing short of unbelievable. I'm absolutely gutted it's ending - hope they create something new soon!

Only thing to now do is to go back to player and watch every episode again. And again.

Thanks for the sheer brilliance, trickery, twists, turns, tears, laughter and amazement. Pair of bloody geniuses.

No spoilers for the episode apart from the fact that I'll will take a couple of watches to catch it all....!

Beautiful send off for a fantastic television show!

No plot spoilers from me. However, it goes without saying that this last episode epitomises everything you'd expect from Inside No.9. Humour. Tension. Superb acting. Beautiful artistry in the production. But above all, the palpable love of Steve and Reece's heartwarming friendship.

Quite honestly, I can't remember the last time I was this moved by watching live TV. And I don't think it will ever happen at this level again. End of era.

So, a massive thank you to Steve and Reece and their collaborators for their fearless, funny and clever creation. It's been a joy to watch throughout the years.

I don't even want to comment on the actual plot or storyline, it's not what was a bit.

What an incredible celebration of one of my all time favourite shows, fans of the show will adore it, references to the show's wonderful back catalogue, listen out for titbits throughout.

How on Earth did they manage to assemble that cast for this, I don't think I've ever seen so much talent in a single show or episode.

I kept asking the whole way through, will we get to see Gatiss, wasn't disappointed.

I don't know about you, but watching this simply made want to watch the whole lot again, what a show, think of the sheer quality and variety we've been treated to.

Amanda Abington and Rachel Parkinson, that did make me chuckle, a family member constantly mixes them up...

I don't want it to end, I hope it comes back, even just for the odd special.

Thank you Pemberton and Shearsmith, you can only imagine what comes next from these two incredible writers and performers. Thank you for giving us so many classics, and my all time favourite, 12 days of Christine.

Inside No. 9 - S9E6 - Plodding On

During the celebration of nine seasons of "Inside No. 9", an unpleasant conflict between Sheersmith and Pemberton occurs, which threatens to destroy a long-standing friendship and cooperation. But "Inside No. 9" is over, so does it even matter...

The farewell episode that closes the series has both a story and twists, but both are quite lame. The essence of the episode is in the cameo appearance of a lot of actors who paraded through nine seasons, and an even greater number of visual and verbal references to the episodes behind us. The episode is basically a tribute to the decade they're leaving behind, and I have the impression that it's something they did more for themselves than for the audience.
