'Saat Uchakkey' boasts an ensemble cast so strong, its barely surprising how splendidly they invest themselves into their respective parts. Sadly, the only strong merit of this comic caper are its performances, as the film is just an okay watch!
'Saat Uchakkey' Synopsis: A team of good-for-nothing people team up to steal treasure from an eccentric old man, but face opposition in the form of a cop.
'Saat Uchakkey' is a fine idea, but the execution is underwhelming. The first-hour, to begin with, barely leaves a mark. Its in the second-hour, when things fire up & the laughs come in. The comic touches work well in the second-hour, despite profanity, but the first-hour, is weak from every angle.
The Writing needed to be more persuasive. The Dialogue are realistic & at times, laugh-out-loud funny. Sanjeev Sharma's Direction is decent. Cinematography & Editing are standard.
Performance-Wise: The Actors are uniformly excellent! Vijay Raaz takes the lead with a terrific act. The supremely talented actor takes center stage & comes up with the film's funniest moments. Manoj Bajpayee is first-rate, as always. Kay Kay Menon shines. Aditi Sharma is fantastic & proves her potential, once again. Anupam Kher is hilarious in a cameo. Annu Kapoor is perfectly over-the-top. Aparshakti Khurrana supports very well.
On the whole, 'Saat Uchakkey' is a mixed bag.

This movie is underrated and killed by censor board, every character has given nice performance. not a cup of everyone's tea. Nice concept.
I gave this movie seven stars because of the fabulous performance delivered by some gems of industry Manoj bajpayee, KK Menon and specially by Vijay Raaz he kills with his terrific performance. Except great performance of actors this movie is an average with all other aspects scenes are too stretched, comedy is not too good.
The first half is looking like director just want to reach the interval or the second half. This movie is looking like there is a great story and cast but the direction failed with the execution.
Overall watch the movie to see one of the great performances executed by Vijay Raaz.

Recently saw Saat Uchakkey and loved it! It is in the league of Hera Pheri and Jane Bhi Do Yaro. It's writing is like Guy Ritchie meets Murakami. I am so glad this masterpiece kept the "A" certification and didn't let go of the language because the dialogues comes out best the way it is right now in the film. One character(Manoj Bajpayee) approaches another to get him to take the responsibility for a crime. As he can't do it, so he suggests someone else. The third character can't do it either. Soon a half dozen wackiest men are in search of someone to be the hoodwink and take the responsibility of a mock murder. They eventually meet a wannabe lawyer(Vijay Raaz) who sets the stage for an out of this world comedy drama. I had no idea it was going to be a comedy when I first started watching it but soon enough I was laughing out loud. It's a little slow, but WTF many caper films usually build slowly. But it is thoroughly enjoyable with some gags that I've never seen anywhere else in Bollywood films. Hats Off to the entire cast, you just can't say who is better than the other! If you've just recently watched bad films, and are depressed, this movie is the perfect antidote. It shows the lighter side of people who are down on their luck. Saat Uchakkey creates a fascinating world, wonderful characters, fantastic plot, stupendous soundtrack, amazing screenplay, wonderful production design and cinematography and it is funny, funny, funny....outrageously funny
The only inspiration to consider this comedy was Vijay Raaz, but the film is so lifeless that even the huge list of cast members it boasts of cannot do anything to save it.
I will not go into details as to what the film is about because I myself couldn't fully understand it. There is apparently a plan masterminded by Pappi (Manoj Bajpayee) to rob rich merchant Diwan's (Anupam Kher) mansion of whatever gold he has stashed there. For this purpose, Pappi hires a group of men, who all have to then kick Inspector Tejpal (Kay Kay Menon) out of the way to succeed int he heist. The sequences surrounding this plan makes no sense. Kher is shown once in the first half and then disappears. Raaz comes around after 40 minutes and then the film starts spewing expletives like the script had nothing better to include.
There is no single scene anywhere in its 140-minute running time that will attract you to consider the film closely. It is just a bunch of characters fooling around without a clue as to their existence or the purpose. The makers have only relied on the structural old Delhi props and the cheesy language to attract the niche who may also be disappointed by the film's sheer incapability to produce entertainment or induce even a single chuckle.
BOTTOM LINE: Sanjeev Sharma's "Saat Uchakkey" is one of the highly disappointing films in recent times not because the poor film has no story but because so many good actors have wasted their time on it. You better don't waste yours on this garbage. Skip for life!
Can be watched with a typical Indian family? NO
