A neonoir puzzler in the spirit of classic Chandler/Bogart flicks but with a protagonist who vapes instead of chain smokes. Jordi Vilasuso is an extremely charismatic gumshoe. Like any strong detective movie, it bears (and practically requires) repeated viewings. Whether or not you can piece together the plot on a first watch, the scene-to-scene action is delivered with flair, energetic pace, and cool visual concepts. Genre aside, this is an indie thriller with high production value and a dynamic ensemble cast. Clyde Cooper has the potential to become a fictional universe in its own right.
I loved this modern film-noir. It's highly recommended. As mysteries go, this movie is pretty effective one. It is entertaining, and detective Cooper is very enjoyable. The big puzzle at the center of the film is revealed towards the end, and Cooper has a real funny inner monologue there. It was fun to watch!
A really good detective movie in the old film noir tradition. All the elements are there, the P.I., the missing woman, a body, and some strange characters. The real mystery lies elsewhere, and it has more to do with who these people are and how they stand with each other and the world.
I loved this film! I thought the leading guy, Jordi, did a fantastic job carrying the film and the supporting actors gave great performances as well. This movie was very interesting and easy to watch. There were a lot of cool quirks in the movie too. Will definitely recommend!
My wife thought this was a lame movie, with bad acting and a cheap plot. Me on the other hand thought Clyde Cooper was made with the intention to look like an old detective series in the style of Mannix, Magnum, PI, Moonlighting or other detective shows from the eighties. Peter Daskaloff must have watched all those shows when he was young, like me and many others did. If you watch Clyde Cooper with those shows in mind then it isn't that bad. I could see Clyde Cooper as a detective show instead of a movie, that would work better. But I can see the point of my wife, the acting isn't award winning neither is the plot, but I saw much worse so it wasn't all that bad to me.
