The original main cast returns to do a meta-reality comedy where the old show exists and the actors are actors on the old show. Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling get the reboot but has to corral the old gang for the new show. Luke Perry's untimely death does put a damper on the proceedings. I'm fine with how they handled the lost. It's great to poke fun at the group's dynamics. In fact, I would push harder to incorporate the actors' real life into the show. Green should have a hot actress wife who overshadows him. A music star may fit the TV role but I want to fit the real-life actor more. Ziering should be best known for a shark B-movie. Doherty should be in trouble for a bad Punk'd show. Priestley actually fits as a struggling TV director. I do love these B-level actors reuniting to relive their better days. That's why I don't want Carteris to be SAG president. It's too big. She should be a working lawyer who does Priestley the favor of representing him after the punch. Garth and Spelling fit. Spelling may actually be the best at playing the wacky version of herself. Those years of reality TV truly pays off. This is fun. It's too bad that there is only six episodes. I would love to see if it gets better in the second season or devolving into a train wreck.
The people who are disappointed were expecting a reboot of the original 90210. If they had read ANYTHING about the show, they'd know that was never the plan.
The actors are playing caricatures of themselves, much like the show Episodes starring Matt LeBlanc. So in this reality they were all stars of the 90s show, but their lives apart from that are different.
The first episode was fun and I can't wait to see where they take it. The only disappointment is that they didn't spend much time talking about Luke Perry. They did acknowledge him, but I felt like there could have been more.
I can't say this with 100% certainty but I don't believe anything like this has ever been done, so props to the writers. I love where they went with this! A concern I have is what it will look like in the future. A part of me feels that this was created for a short term financial gain. So from a business perspective, ππ» But from a viewers perspective ππ» Am I going to get invested and not see it continue? Hoping for a surprise in that area. Again, props to the writers and creators of the show! Am definitely looking forward to the next episode.
This was so great! I admire the cast so much. They actually make fun of themselves without being obnoxious and keep the viewer looking forward to whats next. Can't wait to see next week's episode!!!
Hated the first 10 minutes. I was cringing. Then they all met up and the magic started. Love how self-deprecating the script is. We're not laughing at them, we're laughing with them. We all took ourselves so seriously 20 years ago and now that we have some perspective we can look back to laugh and cry at how life can be so messy and unpredictable. There's so much nostalgia wrapped up in this show but at the same time it's very fresh and modern. The sign of a good show is when you're so caught up you lose track of the time and the ending feels abrupt and leaves you wanting more. This is that show!

- TriviaLuke Perry was offered to reprise his role as Dylan McKay, but had to back out due to his commitment to Riverdale (2017). However, he was willing to do as many guest appearances as he could. Sadly, Perry never got the chance, he passed away in March 2019.
- GoofsThe series revolves around a reboot of Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990), but fictional Tori's idea is more akin to that of a revival (such as the 2018 revivals of Roseanne (1988) and Murphy Brown (1988)), where the original characters are returning, some years after the end of the original series. A reboot, as its name implies, is when all previous continuity is discarded and started over from scratch.
