I don't know what I was thinking first time around. I had marked it at 7, but I just watched it again, after less than a year and found it such a great mystery. I couldn't remember who did it. In fact who ended up doing 3 murders! And that means it is a great whodunnit if you can't remember who did it. And it had a multiple ending of the culprit/s, which upped the atmosphere and surprise even more!
I was surprised how wonderful this series was in the first season. It paid homage to the original series and all the things they added I loved. The characters were perfect. Now I tune into this first episode of this season and unfortunately all the nuance and humor has completely given way to pure dark horror but no real suspense. I have not moved on to episode 2 yet and it's been a month, and not sure if I ever will.
I had ever heard of this show before. When I came across it as surfing the channels. I thought I'd give it a go always looking for a new British whodunnit. Glad I did.
A great new and different kind of pairing. I think the BBC might be taking a bit of the piss out of themselves by having one old white guy and one younger black woman as the two main detectives, both with problems but both great sleuths. Both 'hated' by their boss.
I agree with the reviewer who said it was a bit Columbo, glad it wasn't completely. We see part of the crime and coverup in the beginning but not all of it. Thank goodness as there's only one Columbo.
