GLOD – Gnosis (1995)

Country: United States

3. Redgnosis 11:37
4. Breath Of Fire 11:10
5. Return To Zero 13:15
6. Molecular Noisefloor 21:19

GLOD (aka G.L.O.D. God Loves Over Dose) officially began around 1988 and consisted of Frank107 on vocals,
effects and manipulations, David Martin samplers and keyboards and Michael Dead on stick guitar.
A couple of home-recorded tapes were put out in limited editions,
the first being "23V" and the second being "The Gold Tape".
Around that time Frank, Shelley Soma and Mike Dead began to put out the self-published booklets,
on each solstice and equinox, which later became known as "Glod Propaganda".
As work commenced on the self-titled first LP, which was initially put out as a limited edition on marbelized clear vinyl,
then later on CD with additional tracks, GLOD coalesced into a coherent sonic endeavor
comprised of Frank, David, Mike and SSoma as a percussionist and auxillary vocalist.
Wolfgang joined late in the production, in time to make it on the CD as a second percussionist for the song "Sacriscar".
Their first CD was an exploration of sound and texture in a ritualistic format,
with not much regard for commerciality or the numerous technical obstacles which confronted the band members.
At the same time their early live performances quickly gained them attention with their occult symbolism,
ritualistic drumming, body manipulations and usage of blood sacrifice.
After the release of the first CD, Mike Dead departed the band, choosing to pursue his own path.
Also the band upgraded their home studio equipment, played some live dates around the US
(including some in the Midwest with Ordo Equitum Solis) and produced a video titled "A Private Release",
which was a sort of documentary to the events which centered around the making of the first CD.
With work on the new CD underway, GLOD signed on with the Italian label Musica Maxima Magnetica,
which also re-released the first CD in Europe.
For "Gnosis" GLOD worked with guitarist Dreike, Wolfgang shifted from drums to bass guitar
and a new drummer, Xian, was joined from the Detroit percussive band Batterie Acid.
On the visual side, Frank and SSoma produced the cover artwork and text.
"Gnosis" is a more coherent elaboration of the gnostic state that the band explored with their first release.
It explores ritualistically styled old elegies using the interplay of violin, trumpet and kettledrums
juxtaposed with sublimely textured samples, non-traditional guitar and aggressive bass.
Weaving seductive rhythms, psychedelia-tinged trance laden with atavistic percussion and ecstatic vocal chants.
The compilations "Magnetic Submission" and the Charnel Music release "Arrhythmia III" followed.
By 1996 GLOD started working on their third CD that saw the light of day in 1999 under the title "Babe In Abyss".

A project that started in the late 80s by Mexican female multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Margarita Saavedra.
Her work explore the experimental scene with risky blends of musical genres achieving a sonic amalgamation.
While her basic tracks feature vocals and piano, Alquima enhances her recordings with layers of looped vocals,
electronic processors, sound effects, samples, synthesizers, gongs and bells.
The result is a sound that combines the musical traditions of Latin America
with influences of avant-garde, classical and improvisational music.
Alquimia developed an early love of music and singing, partly from her mother, a classical opera singer.
She went on to study in France and Canada, before making her permanent home in England.
Although she has often been far from home, her interest in the ethnic musical styles of her home country
made her learn various pre-Columbian percussion instruments and flutes,
while her search for new sounds inspired her use of modern music technology.
Alquimia has recorded many albums, both as a solo artist and with writers and musicians such as Hans-Joachim Roedelius,
Rüdiger Gleisberg, Peter Mergener, Anton Zinkl, Mark Powell, Art Of Infinity, Carlos Robledo and others.

Drowned God: Conspiracy Of The Ages is a 1996 science fiction adventure game
developed by Epic Multimedia Group and published by Inscape.
The game propounds the conspiracy theory that all of human history is a lie
and that the human race's development and evolution were aided by extraterrestrials.
The player attempts to uncover the truth through the course of the game by traveling to a variety of different worlds,
interacting with historical and fictional characters, and solving puzzles.
Drowned God is based on a forged manuscript written by Harry Horse in 1983,
purported to have been written by 19th-century poet Richard Henry Horne, who shares Horse's birth name.
After facing legal trouble and fines when he attempted to sell the text,
Horse shelved it until playing Myst and The 7th Guest in the mid-1990s,
whereupon he decided a first-person adventure game would be the best way to tell the manuscript's story.
William S. Burroughs was originally scheduled to narrate the game, but died just before he could begin recording.
Drowned God's haunting and atmospheric music was written and performed by the ambient UK
music duo,
Tom Smyth & Will Joss, operating under the name Miasma.

Cordis Cincti Serpente is a ritual/dark ambient/post-industrial musical project
born in 1989 from an idea of Bari based musician Giovanni Lisi.
Lisi started his musical journey in the early 80s in the local punk scene as a bassist forming the group Bedlam Cage.
Soon he lost interest and moved on.
At the late 80s he met Ivan Iusco (Nightmare Lodge) of Minus Habens label and they quickly became friends.
Cordis Cincti Serpenteit was born spontaneously.
At that period Lisi practiced his esoteric studies strongly inspired by Aleister Crowley,
Kenneth Grant and Austin Osman Spare.
The debut cassette of the same name was released on December 23, 1989
containing six obscure ritual tracks with Ivan Iusco helping Lisi on electronics and producing the release.
The tape was printed in 31 copies and was given to friends and people interested in that kind of subject.
The next appearance of Giovanni Lisi was in 1993 with the collaboration project Nanaleth 23
and the cassette "Submit To Desire" featuring Ivan Iusco, Paolo Bandera (Sigillum S, Sshe Retina Stimulants)
and David Padbury (aka Krist Wolf of The Grey Wolves).
The tape was produced as ritual music to be used as a soundtrack for the making of Magic Seals,
a practice borrowed from Austin Osman Spare who was the basis of the practices of the Temple Of Psychic Youth
(founded by Genesis P. Orridge) that Lisi was a member at the time.
Lisi also collaborated with Russolo of Nightmare Lodge under the name Thee Naodema
creating several songs that were released on various tape compilations.
By 1995 Lisi had announced that the next work from Cordis Cincti Serpente would be entirely centered on Cthulhu Mythos.
Instead of being released in 1996 as "Yuggoth" the album published by Industrial Ölocaust Recordings two decades later,
in May 2016 as "Noo Yuggoth", in a limited edition box set of two cassettes.
In September 2017, a new limited cassette was released again on IÖR entitled "Cenobitorium"
followed by the album "Mala O" in 2020.
"Cordis Cincti Serpente" was remastered and reissued in 2019 on limited cassette and CDr editions by IÖR.

5. Ceremony 18:14

7. Mandrake (The Man Root) 05:07
8. The Captive 15:21

The duo of brothers Alan and Steve Freeman (owners of Ultima Thule label),
spent much of their spare time during the 1980's experimenting with electronics, synthesizers and sound collage,
recording more than thirty releases as Alto Stratus and other projects
like Vrije, Q.S.O., Electric Junk, The Newt Hounds, Biomechanoid etc.
Descriptive of man's rituals and ceremonies, the music on this album attempts sonically to reflect
the calm serenity of meditation, the tense air of the ritual dance and the weird realms of occultist magic
with synthesizers and sound sampling, to create surreal sound paintings, taking the listener way beyond physical realms.
"The Ritual" was the culmination of ten years of sonic exploration and self-training,
developing their own language as non-musicians.
Recorded over a period of four days, it was one of the few recordings that they took advantage
of the multi-tracking possibilities of a 4 track Teac reel to reel,
so for the first time they could play back and dub live without loss of quality.
During recording the band members immersed their selves in the concept of magic and mysticism,
engaging in hypnotic and entangled patterns of sound, using synthesizers,
keyboards and sequencers, plus loops and sampling.
Some well-known voices can be heard imparting their wisdom in a repeated looping fashion,
all adding to the ritualistic feel.
The bonus track "The Captive" was taken from the 1985 cassette compilation "A Cage Went In Search Of A Bird".

and elaborate teachings for spiritual realization which place Bon among the great mystico-philosophical systems
of the world despite its relatively small number of followers.
These recordings illustrate various facets of the religious activities of the Bonpos
through their chant and their psalmodic recitation.
They intend to bring to a wider audience the musical aspects of a ritual tradition
that is largely unknown to the Western World and has remained obscure to the Tibetan themselves.
Recorded in Tibet between March 1981 and April 1983 and originally released by Ocora label on vinyl in 1983.

Adrian Carson – Clive Barker's Salomé & The Forbidden Soundtrack (1998)

Composer: Adrian Carson

Tracklist
1. Salomé 17:34
2. The Forbidden 35:40

In 1970s Liverpool, Clive Barker, together with a small group of university friends,
made two extraordinary avant-garde,obscure short films.
Salomé (1973), based on the play by Oscar Wilde, and The Forbidden (1975-78), based on the Faust myth.
Both shorts feature early footage of Barker himself, who also did most of the special effects.
Doug Bradley, who appears in
Salomé as King Herod, went on to play Pinhead in the Hellraiser movies.
The discovery of these ealy shorts came about when an independent television production company
interviewed Barker about his work.
Clips were needed for the documentary, and so the task of restoring both shorts was undertaken.
Both films were released in a vhs format in 1998.
The dark-eerie music that haunts these films was composed by Adrian Carson,
who is more known for his music in many TV productions.

TeHÔM is the Croatian alias name of the author Siniša Očuršćak
(professor of philosophy at Jezuit University for Philosophy in Zagreb, editor of the book
"The mind-body problem in contemporary philosophy") and Miljenko Rajakovic
(co-member on the 2nd Album "Theriomorphic Spirits", released in 2000).
The band was patronaged by Douglas Pearce of Death In June and his label Twilight Command

under his well known New European Recordings (NER) and World Serpent Distribution, later Tesco Distribution
In 1996 with some of their friends they released their first album "Despiritualisation of Nature
and 3 years their 2nd album followed entitled "Theriomorphic Spirits". In 1997 Siniša died of cancer.
He was a front line soldier during the Croatian war of Independence. Speculation as to the cause of the death
generally assumes that it was almost certainly the result of a war-related illness, but it was never confirmed.
Their two albums are heavily influenced by the occult arts of which Očuršćak was a practitioner.
Miljenko Rajakovic aka Mary (his long year friend and co-member) reactivated TeHÔM

and has started working on a new material for the 3rd long awaited album.
