| Not only is it stylistic, it's practical. Think about it like, we don't have them unless we need them—and that of course falling to the hands of the creator. Loads of cartoons do similar things with various appendages, not just noses. MyLittlePony's more recent generation for example has animals depicted with human-esque shoulders, but only when they are needed to display physical emotion. Pay attention to the usage of it, you'll see it everywhere in many shows. |

| @SeijiSensei Something i found interesting about Hare+Guu is that in the OVAs they mention "moe" a few times, but in the TV series they don't iirc. I think that is also the oldest anime where i've heard the word "moe". |

In a lot of anime the nose is just represented by a dot, sometimes also having a shadow. This is of course only when looking at the character head on so depending on a number of factors it may look like the characters don't have noses. Also, if the characters are a bit further away from the camera the animators might not even bother drawing them in. |
| its because drawing noses in 2D look fucking ugly,if u ever drew a 2D nose u would know. Unless its drawn in 3D they're absolutly trash, but anime is mostly 2D except those 3DCG animes so thats why most Key Animators usually put dots or retarded circles as noses. |
