A little attention goes a long way.
We want to be noticed. Some more than others. Whether it's desiring to be a national sensation or wishing that the girl at the laundromat would remember a shared handshake, that recognition does something. Keep that in mind during a reading of Octave. I was searching for a manga to read, and then, after reading many "top 10 shoujo-ai manga" lists, I decided to start the manga "Octave".
A "raw" image of life. Story ----- The story focuses on Yukino, a former idol in the Japanese music industry. Life is complicated and confusing, especially when you realize you, as a girl, like girls; and this manga portrays that perfectly.
The inner conflict the main character goes through about being with a woman without having been with a man is something I think a lot of lesbians can relate to and it's incredibly realistic in it's execution. The relationship between the two leads is tumultuous and that's one of the reasons I like this manga so much. This is a great yuri story that hurts, burns, and warms the heart. I grittier look at business life of the time with a messy love story. It is worth the read, even if it isn't perfect.
There are many characters, and none of them are perfect people; I love it. Yukino is.. a mess, to put it mildly. She is a girl protected from reality because of her idol past that is forced into the cruel Tokyo streets at 18. The weight of her past crushes her, and her present is uncertain. She is moody, anxious, and easily manipulated with the right pressure and kindness; ... |
