Also known as ABO, A/B/O, Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics or Omegaverse. It is a Shounen ai/Yaoi/Boys Love universe in which there is a "secondary gender" that allows some males to become pregnant.

The Omegaverse is usually considered a subgenre of BL, though it can also appear in straight or GL stories. In this universe, people have not only a gender but also a secondary one — alpha, beta, or omega — each with unique traits and instincts. Betas are basically ordinary humans, while alphas are often portrayed as strong, dominant, and admired, and omegas as rare, emotional, and able to conceive regardless of sex. Pheromones, heat, rut, and the idea of a lifelong bond through a mating bite are recurring elements, though authors like to play with these rules and explore their own interpretations, which is exactly what makes this genre so intriguing.
