I am a young man who loves reading mangas and watching anime (obviously. If not, why would I be here?). I'd say my share of knowledge in the world of anime and mangas is considerably large (however, this is just how I portray myself haha). I believe mangas are the best after all, as anime tend to not depict art the way it is supposed to be. I started reading mangas and watching anime way too late (teenage). Until I watched Gantz in 2014, I never knew anime and mangas could possibly take different directions (shame on me eh?). This made me start reading mangas of most of the anime I had watched until then to shed light on whatever an anime doesn't show. Initially, I did try to maintain a balance between watching anime and reading comics, however, I'm completely a comics person now. Even worse, I've become a novel-reading person and less of a comic reader currently.
Just putting it out there, my greatest completed manga ever is Battle Royale. I can't say I have a 'greatest anime ever', but my number one is Bleach. I am giving it the top spot as it was the first anime I ever watched when I was maybe 13 or 14 with the understanding of what anime was. If not for Bleach, I may never have been this heavy an anime lover. My heart tells me no other anime could achieve this feat (maybe Death Note) as convincingly as Bleach did, but who am I to say? BANKAI!!!!!!. I'd give Hajime No Ippo a close second.
Anyway, I'm not too critical about ratings, my 8 or 9's may be your 4 or 5's (it is what it is people). I tend to score mostly based on enjoyment (y'all who break it down to the core sure have time. Just so happens that even though I'm a very psychological and analytical person, I'm a lazy and very nonchalant person so I don't tend to care much for scoring most times). It all boils down to whether I like a particular anime or not (to me scoring is just a number). Let me rephrase my take on scoring anime in another way, 'Whatever score I give an anime doesn't identify how good or bad it is, it shows how much I enjoyed it or not' (so anything below a 5 is a definite dislike and a 5 is a like but at the lowest degree). Don't take my scoring for what it's not or use it as a reference, y'all should watch what you want and score for yourselves.
Lest I forget since this is important, I HATE MECHA!!!!!!!!!! But I can stomach cyberpunk (with this, I'm done). All other genres are a GO, but Mecha? Nah it's a NO-NO. Also, I don't have a problem with fanservice (or ecchi? harem? I don't even know what to call it) in mangas or anime (becomes a different story if it's too much in anime though). In my opinion, it's either you don't overdo it and disgust me, or better still, just make it hentai. Although it's a natural fact that I hate almost all (if not all) female characters in any manga and anime, only two make my extended favourites character list.
I'm not much of a reviewer but I try to have a go at it once in a while (funny enough, I wanted to be a writer when I was younger. Shame I never worked on the talent at that time). I tend to go for mangas without many reviews on them (makes me feel like I've done something cool like gaining a rare gem). I got a blog though with just a bunch of random articles I wrote, check it out (link at 'Also Available At'. Let me warn you though, none are anime/manga related).
I decided to create this account as I would like all my mangas and anime details in one place (plus this website is where I get all the info I need about them anyway). Well, I'm a really friendly person, great to chat with (maybe a bit too carefree here, a'int you Andrew? Ahh forget it) and a person who's always open to making new friends. I ain't the type to choose much on who becomes my friend as everyone is unique in their own way so I ACCEPT MOST REQUESTS![/b] But I know I'll be the one to send out them random requests though haha) so feel free to holla at any time about anything.
I'm down to chat about stuff away from the manga and anime world, as I see this site as the same thing as any other social network (drop a comment or send a message). I listen to music way too much (predominantly HIP-HOP! I am a bonafide 'Hip-Hop Head'. Title has a sudden flare to it, don't it?). Besides, I'm not too enthusiastic about getting a lot of requests, to be honest. I'll always find time to show up on MAL, so I'm constantly going to be updating my profile.
I can't keep worrying about the things in my life I can't change.
Dear Lord, give me the strength to fight the evil in this game.
Ohhh I close my eyes and get down on my knees, pray to the Heavens, protect my family.
If I leave, that's good enough for me.

I wish I did this earlier since I had shuffled through a lot of authors and people in the past for my Favorite People in my profile. I'll just leave this here to give me a good reminder of the others that aren't there.
Just so you know, the original World Trigger adaptation had some fillers and a filler arc, so it's actually shorter if you skip these parts, the (recent) sequels are better I would say, as an anime-only it looks like a very solid adaptation to me, I hope you'll enjoy it. And good luck with your life plans, I know it can be as hard in the UK than here sometimes.
I think I'll be back to reading some manhwa as soon as I'm up to date with OP. I really like the manhwa format tbh, the strongest point is that they are colored, I'm used to black & white manga but reading with some colors is a much more pleasant experience in my opinion...
Yup, I can't really say for Warm Bodies because I didn't watch the movie, I like Nicholas Hoult though. 28 Days Later is probably the zombie movie that would interest me the most to check it out. I also want to check the other George A. Romero movies as I've only seen Night of the Living Dead (they screened it at my local theater with additional explanations about the films etc, that's why I was originally interested.)
I Am Legend is another post-apocalyptic (right?) very popular movie I haven't seen yet.
I totally understand your opinion about One Piece, I am it is funny to me because I used to think the exact same especially for your point 1,2 and 3, I still kinda agree with your 3rd point though, I would just say (at least from my own experience) that it's the kind of manga that simply grows on you overtime the more you read, I just think it keeps becoming better and better, the art improved a lot, the worldbuilding is still awesome and the characters become more developed and likeable overtime. I don't even know why, I used to hate Luffy back then even after reading 30~ volumes a few years ago, but now I think he's a really good characters and he makes me laugh.
But well, obviously if you feel like you'll not be invested and that you'll not like it eventually, there's no need to force yourself to read it.
I understand it better for Release the Witch etc now, your mental comparison helps lol. Thank you :)
The same can be said for anime anyway, just compare how many anime we're getting each season compared to 10-15 years ago, now it's almost impossible to watch all of what you're interested in. Have you seen the World Trigger adaptation though? I fully watched the anime but didn't read the manga, I wonder if the manga is better, the latest seasons of World Trigger were amazing.
Even though I only read a few manhwas I still read different genres, but the ones like Solo Leveling are my favorite (obviously since Solo Leveling was so awesome) I also liked Omniscient Reader, which is receiving an anime adaptation soon.
Nop that's the issue, I mean I enjoy apocalyptic/survival/zombies movies but these are definitely not my favorite genres. I prefer it when it has new elements or other genres mixed with it, for example I loved Shaun of the dead or Braindead as a parody. Still I liked some zombie movies like Train to busan, Night of the Living Dead or Zombieland.
I challenged myself to watch all of Marvel movies a few years ago, now I'm up to date so I can't give up yet that's why I still watch all of the new ones when they're been screened, but it's not worth it in my opinion, only 10-20% of their movies as good for me. Also regarding DC the new Superman movie was pretty good, so I'm curious to see how their next movies will be.
But why are you a One Piece hater though? Because it used to be the case for me, but then I started reading it and it was okay but I stopped after 30 volumes, then now that I started again and read up to volume 70 it just gets better and better, now I understand why it is so popular and has so many fans, I started liking it as much as the others which is still surprising to me but I can only love One Piece's writing, world building and its characters, it's just too good in my opinion.
As far as you take your time to enjoy them as much as possible, this is all that matters. Okay thanks I didn't know both Release the Witch and The Legendary Mechanic, I'm curious to how they are compared to Lord of the Mysteries, I'm watching the LOTM adaptation right now I'm at episode 8 out of 13, it is amazing so far, especially because the visuals of the Victorian era are just beautiful, it's one of the most visually stunning isekai I've seen for its world building. The story is very complex though, I'm a little lost sometimes as an anime only, that's why reading the novel before watching the anime should be better to enjoy it.
Ahah I mean there are already so many manga and a lot of manhwa, I read some of the mainstream manhwas that interested me though. But maybe in the future I'll start manhuas too if some are not too long.
I actually never watched World War Z, but we need to be cautious regarding the movie sequels, especially recently. We got many "hyped" sequels in recent years but most of them were disappointing like Gladiator 2 or Joker 2 for example.
So Martial World is good? The only very long thing I'm reading right now is the infamous One Piece, just because I started it many years ago but still haven't caught up with it lol and I'm far from that, I'm not even halfway through the story.
Ahaha even Battle Through the Heavens' adaptation is so long so I can totally see why. Recently there's the donghua "Lord of Mysteries" which is very high rated and short, I need to check this one.
Oh okay ahah I'm just too used to the word comics designating American works. I actually never read a manhua in my life, it would be cool if they were added to this site since they added donghuas and manhwas.
The comfort you get at the theater with the big screen is always worth it compared to watching something at home imo, I don't know how expensive it is in the US even though I hesitated to go see a movie in the Chinese Theater in Hollywood when I was here a few weeks ago but there are just too many people who want to experience it. But well if you have time now because instead of looking at your plant to watch list you could just start catching up with the series that have become the most popular in recent years? There is so much stuff to catch up on now!!
I'm glad to hear that things are going well for you too!!
Not reading manga too? Since compared to reading comics is still in the same field. I don't watch many shows and series but I actually watch a lot of movies, I think that when we talked I wasn't into movies at all, since then it has changed and now it has become a passion, I go to the theater many times a week. There are not many new movies that interest me recently though, but they often screen some older movies too. I saw the Taiwanese movie Yi Yi a few days ago, which is very interesting.

There's this one which is very short that just ended recently that I plan to watch soon https://myanimelist.net/anime/60489/Takopii_no_Genzai
No idea if the Battle Through The Heavens live action is considered good compared to the donghua adaptation though?
