Chaos Beastmaster and Hounds

Rather useful unit, perfect to hunt alone character or unprotected war machines. Add 1D6-4 of Chaotic  attributes to the warhounds and this unit can be a thorn in the flesh of your opponent.

Of course you recognized The beastmaster MM93 from Marauder range and the Citadel "small" Chimera.

Bulls on parade !!

I painted this minotaur in 2011 just before a memorable battle against a French collector called Slannesh Child (here the battle report). I never really enjoy the final result of the banner, probably too big with not enough details. To put an end to this "artistic" tragedy, I decided to to paint a new banner.





I used the same technic as my Chaos Knights standard bearer. I started by the creation of the Chaos Icon. After that, I drew the banner on paper and painted it with the icon. I stuck both together then I added some details in Green Stuff to enrich the banner. A little bit long to do but the result suits me well.

My DoomBull and his warband are from now on protected by the Chaos Star during their long and dangerous adventures on the road of the power.

Minotaurs are a good choice in a Chaos army, these  killing machines have sometimes a problem to control their blood greed ,  but I can't resist to make a place for them when I play a chaos army.

Doom Bellow the Warped (or Grymox) is one of the famous Minotaur Lords from the Citadel range. This guy is my favorit, he is big, athletic and very bestial. His open mouth suggests torrents of insults which he squalls on his enemies
Unfortunately, his original weapon don't correspond (imho) to his Lord rank that's why I created his runic Old Hammer.
The position of his left arms is not really good for me and I decided to sculpt him a more vindictive position. Now he's ready to challenge all his rivals.

Encounter in Chaos wastes

Troll!! One of the archetypal monster race shared between Orcs and Chaos hordes, they 're an importante place in heroic fantasy univers and a miniatures collection.

These Big Guy'z have larges surfaces of flesh, perfect to begin with an airbrush. I invest in a common airbush from Prince August range (AM01) and it's a really great tool to paint miniatures.  I admit that the "Pchit" effect is strong but on a magic flesh I think it's not disgracious.

Most of them are sculpted by Ali Morrison. His interpretation is less pulled toward the stupid monster like the C20 Troll of the Perry twins. Anyway I like both styles :)

 

 

 

Other important monster for Chaos army is the Chimera. In 3rd ed that monster is totaly created with random profiles, heads and tails. It's the most fearsome Chaos children.

 

Unfortunately, the Citadel Chaos Chimeras CM1 is ridiculous compared to his profil (but his position is interesting) . With regret I choose to paint  Ral Partha - 11-414 Chimera (Ad&d). his body is more massive and I was able to use my airbrush to paint wings.

 

 

Dragon Ogres

Le mythique dragon Ogre Citadel DS2... Une pure merveille en comparaison de ceux de chez Marauder.
A l'époque aucun socle n'était fourni avec la figurine, on utilisait deux socles de 40x40 pour jouer. J'ai choisi de les faire tenir sur du 50x50, c'est pas à mon avantage en terme de jeu mais c'est pas grave j'adore les sortir car ils terrorisent littéralement mes adversaires (P'tit coup de pression sur le flanc...)
Au niveau conversion, j'ai pris mon temps car il y en a beaucoup, surtout au niveau des pattes avant pour obtenir différentes pause. J'ai également soigné la posture et le heaume du champion... Je suis assez fier du résultat.

Chaos centaurs

Bien loin des centigors... Ces centaures sont moins bestiaux, néanmoins, ils dégagent une grande agressivité. ceux sont des sculpture des Perry's et de Morrison.
Question peinture, le NMM est assez uniforme, même couleur pour les cotes de mailles les armures et les armes. Ce n'est pas voulu, à l'époque je ne maitrisais que le NMM or et argent. C'est pourquoi ils repasseront entre mes doigts lorsque je peindrais le reste de cette bande de 15 centaures.

Minotaurs

Les minotaures sauvages, ils leurs manque le porte bannière qui est en-cour.
Question peinture, un travail essenciellement à base de nuances de bruns et de couleurs chaire. Seul le hero porte des plaques de métal bleuté et doré.

Ogres

Les mercenaires Ogres, Skragg le massacreur, Champion de Malal!! Ca c'est une belle histoire...
Question peinture, la déchirure cérébrale pour peindre les armures du chaos sinon c'est vraiment sympa à peindre des ogres... Je vous les conseils. La banière est inspirée par John Blanche évidemment.

War Hounds

Les chiens du chaos. Depuis la V5, il me semble qu'ils n'ont plus besoin d'avoir un maitre de meute... Beaucoup d'entre eux portent la marque du chaos, ils m'en reste encore une dizaine à peindre et je pense m'orienter vers des couleurs de fourrures improbables genre zébrures, peau de serpent...
