Stephanie, CPT | Pain-Free Strength Training on Instagram: "Bird dogs shouldn’t feel easy. If they do, my guess is your doc/trainer/etc hasn’t taught you how to REALLY engage your core. I can feel my core working in just the hands and knees position (quadruped). And I’m a fitness professional! Most exercises can feel “easy” if you aren’t moving with intention. Once you get that proper engagement down, you’ll realize Bird Dogs aren’t the “beginner”exercise most people think they are. But I see docs recommend this as the first step or rehab all the time! Comment “core”, and I’ll send you a link where I walk you through how to ACTUALLY engage your core + a bonus video on how to do this in a quadruped position. Once you get that down, give these moves a try 🙌🏻 #corestrength #coretrain How To Do Bird Dogs Exercise, Bird Dog Exercise, Beginner Exercise, My Core, Bird Dog, Core Work, Core Training, Bird Dogs, Core Strength

Jessica Bento on Instagram: "An interesting comment I get all the time when people see me doing progressions of dead bugs, side planks, and bird dogs is, “really more of THIS movement?” I know that if you follow me you will see A LOT of these types of exercises, but you may wonder why post so much on these exercises?

Two reasons…the first is they have been heavily researched as some of the most effective core stability exercises and the other is that I see people do them incorrectly all the time as well as progress them in incorrect ways. An exercise without truly understanding all the details of the movements and how to build upon the correctly just becomes an exercise without much meaning to one’s goals.

The dead bug is a great example of such issues. People often start with bodyweig Core Stability Exercises, Side Planks, Stability Exercises, Bird Dog, Core Stability, Wednesday Workout, Side Plank, Bird Dogs, An Exercise
