Riyadh Meetings highlight support for Syrians, calls for unity
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A statement issued Sunday evening by the Riyadh Meetings on Syria outlined discussions centered on supporting the Syrian people and providing them with assistance and backing.
The meetings emphasized solidarity with the choices and will of the Syrian people, underscoring the importance of respecting Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Participants expressed their support for a Syrian political transition that ensures representation for all political and social forces, protecting the rights of every Syrian and involving all components of Syrian society.
They stressed the need for dialogue to address challenges and concerns among different parties while offering support, advice, and consultation that upholds Syria’s independence and sovereignty.
The statement reaffirmed that Syria’s future must remain in the hands of its own people.
The attendees also condemned and expressed concern over Israeli incursions into the buffer zone along the Syrian border, including areas near Mount Hermon and Quneitra Governorate.
They reiterated the necessity of respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
The Riyadh Meetings included a series of high-level discussions in the Saudi capital, starting with an Arab-level gathering, followed by regional and international meetings involving foreign ministers of participating states.
These meetings focused on crafting a vision for a new Syria while addressing pressing regional and international concerns.
