Just a couple of days before the big February quake in 2011, Zak Cassells led a group of volunteers on a clean-up of a loop of the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River. This small local initiative grew over time into the annual Mother of All Clean-Ups – an enormous clean-up of the main urban waterways of Christchurch held annually on the day before Mothers Day.
