American Engineer and Railroad Journal
American Engineer and Railroad Journal was the name of a railroad engineering journal published in the late 19th and early 20th century, part of a long line of such journals published under various names.
Publication History
American Engineer and Railroad Journal began in 1893, as the successor to the Railroad and Engineering Journal (and continuing its volume numbering). It absorbed National Car and Locomotive Builder in the 1890s, and was known for a couple of years as The American Engineer, Car Builder and Railroad Journal before reverting to its earlier name. In 1911, it was acquired by a new company and shortened its main title to American Engineer (still mentioning railroads in a subtitle). It was renamed Railway Age Gazette, Mechanical Edition in 1913.
