The Fortnightly Review

The Fortnightly Review (also simply known as The Fortnightly) was a British magazine of literature and ideas founded by Anthony Trollope and other authors.

Publication History

The Fortnightly Review began in 1865. A new series, issued monthly rather than fortnightly, began in 1867; volumes from that point on had both a new series number and an old series number. "Review" was dropped from the name in 1934. The magazine ran until 1954, when it was absorbed by the Contemporary Review. In 2009, an online Fortnightly Review was founded in the spirit of the original magazine, and continues today.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1865-1922: HathiTrust has most issues published until 1922 readable online, some labeled with the old series number and some with the new series number. Access to volumes published after 1898 may be restricted outside the United States. Some later volumes may be searchable but not readable online here.
• 1865: The Internet Archive has the specimen number of the magazine.
• 2009-present: The Fortnightly Review website has the contents of the online edition published beginning in 2009.
