Paris Signs

I'm addicted to Paris signs especially in the Metro. It can help if you get lost looking for the exit...
I learned today at The Paris Chronicles the white 'beveled' Metro tiles are quite special - they not only reflect more light but have become a chic addition to many homeowner's kitchens and bathrooms.
I love the separate exits in the Metro. No fighting incoming riders like in New York's MTA. Any wonder NYC makes the top of the list for rudest city?
FYI you won't be able to use the machines if you don't have a chip in your credit card so be sure to have euros onhand.
Leaving the inner sanctum of the Metro can set you up
For spectacular views like l'Opera Garnier. But you'll be on an island, Pl Charles Garnier with at least 4-5 possible crossings on offer.
I'm immersed reading Thirza Vallois on my new Kindle. She keeps you busy every single step looking this way and that, taking in historical data I previously overlooked. No wonder I see red in Paris. Formerly the cobblestones were streaming with it.
The Pont Neuf Metro lets you out on a 16th century bridge once teaming with booths, markets, jugglers, prostitutes...
Only les Bouquinestes were allowed to stay...
 And the pigeons...
I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for Paris signs advertising 'La Formule' lunches come March...

Combien?

Prices are always clearly posted in Paris/France merci dieu.
I think it's the law. Particularly when it comes to bread/pain the government sets the prices/prix and they MUST be posted in the window/vitrine no less. Ha! Try and find this in the US anywhere. So many places don't post prices. It's a snob thing here...
Even the fanciest places like patisserie Christian Constant post their prices loud and clear. It does make the decision process easier don't you think?
Lunch blackboards/ardoises in the street are a great aide...
If you see the word 'formule' in a lunchtime menu - that's the best thing to order. The best deal for what was bought fresh from the market that day. Everyone around you (if they're French) will be eating it. It makes sense and cents.
At the creperie there are so many prices you could go nuts. As a rule when I'm abroad I think of 10 euros or pounds like $10. It's the standard everywhere and easier than checking dollars on your calculator. Forgetaboutit.
 I adore French signs...
Some of them are quite artful and personal like at the market/marche...
Here the flowers are nicer than the signs or porte-etiquettes.

High-end Pain du Sucre tells you how much that verrine is going to hurt yr purse.

The variety of price signs fascinates me endlessly..I could look and look
Here the price sign is popped right in the middle of the tarte! Does it come with the tarte too?
I wouldn't mind being this woman in Montmartre for a day putting up price signs. Maybe then I'd get this obsession out of my system...
BONJOUR LE PRIX!

Jean-Paul Goude/Paris!

I bought this book 'cause I love the cover. Paris graphics are terrific.
No one does it better in Paris than Jean-Paul Goude

Writing on the wall

I LOVE Paris signs.

I love the typography... I love what they say: mille-feuilles, tarte fine aux pommes. Cheescake I could do without.

I love seeing the hours written in script on the door, but I don't love showing up and they're ferme/closed.
Patisserie Secco decided to repaint their doggie on the wall. Why? Were the neighbors upset to lose the old doggie?
La cadeaux is such a French concept.

Jean-Paul Hevin doesn't need words - just macarons.

I can not resist reading these authorized bread prix lists. I have no idea why? This one - Gerard Mulot's vitrine.

Self-explanatory.

This not-so-little piggy read the writing on the vitrine and is about to enter. He hesitates. A few doors down Patisserie Gerard Mulot, where you can easily make a pig of yourself.
With this enticing sign in the window.
Which would you choose?

Paris Signs

Paris signs makes me want to dream.Merci Hediard.
When you're departing Paris on the Eurostar to London, you're encouraged to buy French parfums so you can feel more Parisienne - last chance!
Or to find your inner chat? Go try to find the thing in the Gare du Nord or understand the signs for that matter? Has this happened to you? The Paris Metro is another story. I love reading their signs like this one for a family ticket to the Louvre... The Metro is a goldmine of signs...
Regarde! A French Girl who is peut-etre perdu/lost?
No need to worry about do not enter oneway signs if you're walking...
Do stop and peruse the menus/ardoises dans la rue...
Why do I always come to Patisserie Secco on the day (lundi) they're closed?
Why did they have to go and repaint the adorable dog on the wall at Secco? Dommage...
Here's a sign I can't resist...
Why must I read every porte-etiquette/pastry sign in every vitrine?
A 'sign' in the vitrine that needs no words. Macarons at super classe patisserie Hugo et Victor.
You can wear Paris signs on your arm if you buy a bag at Barbara Rihl (Pierre Herme's wife) 1, rue du Juillet 75001
Or just paint directly on your sleeve like this girl in the Metro.
Moi, je t'aime PARIS SIGNS!
