Ono Poke

Went back to Ono for some poke.
Easy to get to from the freeway, and easy to park.
I got the Classic Ahi, which has tuna, regular onions, green onions, furikake with Shoyu sauce.  It was a nice mix, the sauce wasn't too heavy handed like the one my friend got.  I basically cleaned up the whole bowl.  I think though, next time I'll ask for mixed greens as based instead of rice just to curb the carb in-take.

Papa Yu

More poke places popping up around town, that just means more to try.
Found this one at I-10 & Blalock in the same shopping center as Ranch 99 on I-10.
Like how the other ones operate, it depends on the size, you get that many scoops.  You can also pick and choose the different sides.
This is a regular size, if you dine in, you get a bowl of miso soup to go with it.  By the way, that's alot of food.  Anyway, for regular size that's $8.99, you get 2 scoops of protein.

I started my bowl as a salad based, chose salmon and unagi for my protein, got cucumber and onion.  Then, for my sauce I used the house shoyu which is my standard way of testing each place.  I like theirs, very light, not overwhelming at all.  For topping, I had crispy onion, nori strips, and tobiko (caviar).

Like I said, that's alot of food.  My little complaint is that they were quite stingy on the cucumber.  Seeing that mine is a salad, having a little bit of cucumber is nothing.  But they were like rationing it out by slice.  That's was odd.

Ono Poke

Wanted something quick and yummy before heading to a show and we ended up at Ono's.
You park at the side of the building and the door is facing Richmond.
I got the Classic Ahi, which is Ahi Tuna, scallions, sweet onion, sesame seeds, and classic shoyu.  What you don't see is a bed of rice underneath.  So they make it all in front of you, and less than a few minutes, your food is ready, and you can devour all you want.

They have 6 pre-tested combos or most popular combos.  But if you want to customize your poke bowl, you can pick your own.  First thing is brown/white rice or half and half.  Second step you pick your fish, which they have salmon, tuna, albacore, shrimp or catch of the day.  Third thing is the sauce, they have 6 to choose from.  It went by spicy level and wasabi level.  Lastly, toppings.  Possibilities are endless.

Seating is limited, but because it's a quick dish, alot of people can eat quickly and let you have a seat. They have seating outside and it's not bad taking it to go either.
