Case 335: Linda Brown

*** Content warnings: Child sexual abuse, grooming, domestic violence *** In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 19 1985, police were summoned to a shocking scene at an ordinary suburban home in Garden Grove, California. 23-year-old wife and mother Linda Brown had been shot twice and killed. The culprit was her 14-year-old stepdaughter, Cinnamon Brown, who was found barely conscious and clutching a suicide note in a dog kennel in the backyard. A 30-year-old scuba diver from Tennessee by the name of Ben McDaniel had failed to resurface after diving into the narrow cave network under the basin of the spring two nights earlier and nobody had seen or heard from him since. When a recovery mission failed to find any sign of Ben, his loved ones and members of the cave diving community were left in shock.
