I binged this report. The personal stories — covering a multiplicity of perspectives — are thoughtfully woven together to create an engaging “look back” and analysis of Katrina / The Levees Breaking and the aftermath. A very important piece of audio journalism for folks who “witnessed” the disaster from their sofas — or who were too young to remember these events.

Not just a feat of reporting but a work of audio art. In personal accounts and sound design, it puts your right there for the tick tock of one of the worst natural disasters in American history. I learned so much more about a story I thought I knew. But it’s in reckoning with the aftermath of Katrina that this show truly shines.

The journalism was top tier. The hard-hitting questions, and unbiased analysis throughout this podcast were incredible, but the Michael Brown interview really was something I’ve never seen before. Without spoiling it, the journalist was able to really bridge the gap between the party and race divide on what happened after Katrina. He formed questions and analyses that were both critical of the response, yet extremely unbiased and fair to the subject of the interview: Michael Brown. I already was loving the podcast but after this interview I had to give my 5 stars to this project.
