The Missus has been celebrating her 64th with pizza, Grandkids and sunflowers.

A trip to Sunny Bank's Record Plant was fun

And We also visited the Farsley scrap store, where these metal lampshades spoke to me and said .... Dalek.

Exterminate!

And these fabulously heavy spray gun pistols, perfect for Hubley disintegrators ray guns. 

At a tenner each for the daleks and the hubleys I left them there.

And The second hand baubles were cute and reminded us of Christmas in four months time! 

FARSLEY SCRAP STORE

We recently took Moonbase Junior to Farsley Scrapstore in Leeds.

It's a cool recycling shop where rubbish is stockpiled.

Crafters, artists and play people use it for projects.

Cheap as chips as well.

It's an Aladdin's cave of cardboard and plastic bits and bobs.

Oh, and a few tailor's dummies and massive baubles.

Imagine these on your tree!

There's bags and bags of pipes and stuff.

Shuttlecocks, tubes and trays.

Bike helmet inners. 

I instantly thought of Bane's mask!

Barrels of plastics and card. Great for rockets!

Could you do anything with stuff like this?

I wonder if Derek Meddings might have liked it?

ERSATZ SPACEX MOONBASE FURNITURE

I bought this back of old computer parts at the local scrap-store.

The bits make great replacements for .....

the SpaceX Moon Base!

Tapes like these remind me of an old and memorable sci-fi flick called Brainstorm, which features lots of 'em!

SCRAP STORES: A MODELLER'S FEAST

Last Saturday our Daughter took us to the Leeds Scrapstore. It's one of a network of social enterprises, who specialise in storing scrap materials for creative play. 

As I discovered it is also an amazing store of modelling materials! There are hundreds of obsolete electrical components, tubes, casings, panels, lenses, domes, switches, plastic pipes and so on. You name it they have it and in bulk!
