Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Vera Unity, Inc. (“Vera Unity”, “Prayroom”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Prayroom mobile application, prayroom.io, and related services (together, the “Service”).

Vera Unity, Inc. is the developer and data controller responsible for the Service.

1. Information we collect

We collect information that you provide, information created through your use of the Service, and limited technical information collected automatically.

Account and profile information

Depending on how you use Prayroom, this may include:

  • your account identifier, email address, password hash, and authentication provider;
  • your name, profile photo, language, gender, date of birth, and notification settings;
  • your Christian denomination or other religious affiliation; and
  • a city, approximate location, or coordinates you choose to add to your profile.

You may use certain parts of Prayroom with a guest account. Some profile information, including a display name and denomination, may still be required to provide the core prayer experience.

Prayer requests and community content

We process content you choose to create or share, including:

  • prayer-request categories, titles, descriptions, names, photos, locations, and the requested publication duration;
  • information contained in a prayer request, which may concern health, emotional wellbeing, relationships, religious beliefs, financial hardship, or another sensitive personal circumstance;
  • blessings and supportive messages sent during a prayer session;
  • reports, feedback, and messages sent to Prayroom support; and
  • translations and prayers generated from your request.

A prayer request may concern another person. Please share another person’s name, photo, location, health information, or other personal information only when you have a lawful and appropriate reason to do so. Avoid including information that is unnecessary for the community to pray for that person.

Prayer activity

We collect information needed to coordinate simultaneous prayer, such as the prayer sessions you join, participation and completion status, prayer duration, content viewed, blessings sent, interaction history, and Prayroom “Power” or similar participation metrics.

Location information

Prayroom may process:

  • approximate location inferred from an IP address;
  • a city or coordinates that you choose to enter; and
  • precise device location when you grant location permission and use a feature that requires it. Some older active versions of the app used precise location during a prayer session.

You can control device location permission in your operating-system settings. Turning it off may limit location-based features.

Device, diagnostics, and usage information

We and our service providers may collect IP address, app version, operating system, language, device and installation identifiers, push-notification token, advertising identifier where permitted, referral information, screens and features used, search activity inside the app, crash reports, diagnostics, and performance data.

The Prayroom website also receives ordinary web-request information such as IP address, browser type, and requested page. At the effective date of this Policy, Prayroom does not use the website to serve third-party advertising.

Information from sign-in providers

If you sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook, we receive the information that provider makes available under your settings and authorization, such as an account identifier, name, email address, or profile image. The provider processes your information under its own terms and privacy policy.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • create, authenticate, secure, and manage accounts;
  • publish and distribute prayer requests and connect people in simultaneous prayer;
  • personalize the experience by language, denomination, location, and preferences;
  • translate prayer requests and blessings, generate prayer text, and moderate community content;
  • send service, security, prayer, reminder, and optional promotional communications;
  • provide support and respond to reports and rights requests;
  • analyze usage, diagnose crashes, improve performance, and develop the Service;
  • prevent abuse, spam, fraud, security incidents, and violations of our Terms; and
  • comply with law, enforce agreements, and protect users, Vera Unity, and others.

For people in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that requires a legal basis, we rely as applicable on performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Service, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations. Additional rules apply to health, religious beliefs, and other sensitive information. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, we rely on an appropriate condition such as your explicit consent or your deliberate choice to make information about yourself public in a community prayer request. You may withdraw consent for future processing, but this does not affect processing already lawfully performed.

3. What other users can see

Prayroom is a community service. A prayer request is intended to be shown to people who may pray for it. Depending on what you submit, other users may see a display name, photo, approximate location, prayer-request category and text, and related blessings or prayer activity. Do not publish information you want to keep private.

When you choose to post a prayer request or blessing, the resulting disclosure to other users is made at your direction. Other users may retain information they saw or captured before it was removed. We prohibit misuse of community content but cannot control every action taken by another user.

4. Artificial intelligence and automated processing

Prayroom uses generative-AI services to translate content, generate prayer text, and help moderate prayer requests. The text submitted to these services may include names and sensitive circumstances contained in a prayer request. Our primary provider is Microsoft Azure OpenAI; Mistral AI may be used as a fallback. Generated prayers, translations, and moderation results are stored with the related request when needed to provide the Service.

AI output is probabilistic and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Automated moderation is used to support community safety and does not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. You may contact us if you believe content was handled incorrectly.

5. Service providers and disclosures

We disclose information only as described in this Policy, including to providers that process it for us or when you direct a disclosure. Current categories and principal providers include:

  • Infrastructure and storage: Hetzner-hosted servers, databases, and object storage;
  • AI processing: Microsoft Azure OpenAI and Mistral AI;
  • Analytics: Mixpanel;
  • Crash reporting and performance monitoring: Sentry;
  • Push notifications and app installation services: Google Firebase and Google Play services;
  • Authentication: Apple, Google, and Meta/Facebook; and
  • Email delivery: Prayroom’s email infrastructure and its hosting providers.

These providers receive only the information reasonably needed for their role, subject to our agreements and their own legal obligations. You can review relevant provider notices at Microsoft, Mistral AI, Mixpanel, Sentry, Google, Apple, and Meta.

Meta’s mobile SDK may receive app events and device or advertising identifiers for analytics or marketing measurement where platform settings permit it. Mixpanel may use IP address to infer approximate location. These activities may be described as “sharing” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws. We do not sell personal information for money.

We may also disclose information:

  • when required by law or a valid legal process;
  • to protect safety, rights, and the integrity of the Service;
  • in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards; or
  • with your consent or at your direction.

6. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including providing the Service, maintaining security, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. The retention period depends on the type of information and why it is processed:

  • account and profile data is generally retained while the account is active;
  • prayer requests, blessings, translations, and generated prayers are retained while needed to publish, display, moderate, and maintain the relevant community content;
  • authentication sessions and push tokens are retained until they expire, are replaced, or are deleted;
  • security, diagnostic, and analytics records are retained according to operational need and the configured retention of the relevant provider; and
  • deleted information may remain for a limited period in protected backups until those backups are overwritten through the normal rotation process.

We may retain information longer when required by law, necessary to establish or defend legal claims, or needed to investigate fraud or security incidents. We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer reasonably identify you.

Account control

7. Delete your Prayroom account and data

You can request deletion of an account created in the Prayroom: People pray together mobile app in either of these ways:

  1. In Prayroom, open Settings and select Delete account. The app opens this section.
  2. Email hello@prayroom.io with the subject Delete my Prayroom account. You can use this option even if you no longer have access to the app.

When emailing us, write from the address linked to the account when possible and include your Prayroom display name and sign-in method (email, Apple, Google, Facebook, or guest). Never send us your password, access token, or social-provider password. If you use a guest account or cannot access the registered email, tell us that in the request and we will provide reasonable verification steps.

Request account deletion

What account deletion removes

After verification, we delete or de-identify, as applicable:

  • account credentials, profile fields, denomination, location, and settings;
  • device and push-notification tokens linked to the account;
  • profile and prayer-request photos controlled by Prayroom;
  • prayer requests, blessings, and other content authored by the account;
  • prayer participation and account activity linked to the account; and
  • stored translations and generated prayers linked only to deleted requests.

Information that may be retained

We may retain limited information when required by law or reasonably necessary to establish or defend legal claims, investigate fraud or security incidents, or protect users. Deleted information may remain temporarily in protected backups until normal backup rotation overwrites it. We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer reasonably identify you.

Deleting the app does not delete your account. Deletion from Prayroom does not delete information independently held by Apple, Google, Meta, another sign-in provider, or another person who retained a copy of community content before it was removed.

Delete specific data without deleting the account

You may request deletion of a profile field, photo, prayer request, blessing, or other content without deleting the whole account. Use an available delete control in the app or email us and identify the content you want removed.

We begin verified deletion requests without undue delay and respond within the period required by applicable law.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information; receive a portable copy; withdraw consent; and appeal or complain to a data-protection authority. California residents may also have rights to know, correct, or delete personal information and to opt out of a sale or sharing as those terms are defined by applicable law.

To exercise a right, email hello@prayroom.io. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and authority. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. You will not be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.

You can also:

  • update profile information and notification preferences in the app;
  • remove a profile photo or supported community content using available app controls;
  • turn off location, notification, or advertising permissions in device settings; and
  • use platform privacy controls for Apple, Google, Meta, and your mobile device.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. Network communications with the production Service use encryption in transit. Access to production systems is restricted, and passwords are stored as password hashes rather than plain text. No security measure can eliminate every risk, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

Vera Unity is a United States company and the Service uses providers in multiple countries. Information may therefore be processed outside your state or country. Where required, we use contractual and other safeguards intended to provide an appropriate level of protection for international transfers.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account or use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent. People aged 13 to 17 should use the Service with the permission of a parent or legal guardian where that permission is required by law. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Prayroom, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deleting the information where appropriate.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Service, our providers, or applicable law. We will post the revised Policy here and update the effective date. When a change is material, we will provide additional notice where required.
