Need for a change
Welcome in New Year! I hope you’ve had a great start of 2017.
I am still very much in the mood of planing, dreaming and taking some important decisions for this year. It is one of my favourite times of the year, when it feels like a new start and a 12 months seems like long, open time to fulfil….well , at least that’s what I hope for.
It is winter for many of us, and we are still waiting for some snowy days out here. At the same time we are all about summer vibes and new collections showing up here and there. Today I’m bringing you a bit of sun from Nepal and beautiful products made by Muskhane. We are so glad to cary at Rafa-kids some of their soft colourfu pillows and the Grizzly carpet is our customers favourite at the moment. We will bring you even more beauty and inspiration this year. I promise. This is just a start!

Blue Half Painted Walls in children’s rooms
We are back to our Monday’s posts with inspiring children’s rooms.
Today I would like to show you two trends in one post.
Did you notice such a popular idea of half painted walls in a room ?
Well, I like it a lot especially in children spaces.
How to do it ? It is good to select one or two walls and after paining it create around it an unique atmosphere for your child. Putting the bed next to the wall can be a great deal , since it creates immediately a cosy sleeping corner. A little chair, night shelf and you got it! I’ve also found some nice examples for using half painted wall for a child’s working corner. Wall painted half, will make room look a bit smaller so I think it is more suitable for spaces with high ceilings.
Second trend I’ve noticed is the use of DARK BLUE colour in home deco. It is so beautiful! Great refreshment after the black ones, don’t you think? I secretly hope it will be popular colour for this up coming Autumn. Let’s combine it with ochre, mustard and brown or even yellow. All the rooms I’ve selected have this very pure and serene looks. Not much furniture, products, just some very essentials - so simple. It gives a rest, so good for our little ones. Let’s calm them down a bit, if possible!

Monday inspiration - blush pink with blue for children’s room
Today we are talking about unique two colour combination instead of one . The most cliché colour hues for boys and girls - PINK and BLUE. Panton selected for 2016 Rose Quartz (baby pink) and Serenity (baby blue). I find it very interesting that they decided to put together this combination. I noticed very strong movement in gender equality in fashion and secretly hope the genderless trend will start to be more present in children deco too. I believe that style should be above all this traditional perceptions of what ‘should be’ for boys and for girls, especially if we talk colours.
Both colours, blush pink and blue, stand strongly on their own and while also complementing each other beautifully. My favourite colour combo will be the dark blue and black along with sweet pastels. It is a brave and modern colour mix. We are not very much into blush at our own house, even though my older boy always really liked the salmon colour, close to blush. I gave him some soft pink pillows next to dark blue bedding and it is looking very nice. Haven’t heard comments about it so far, so I will advice to try this colour combo around. Very refreshing.

Monday inspiration - Black in children’s rooms
Here we are again! Monday's dose of inspiration for children’s rooms deco.
I would like to talk BLACK today.
At first as I thought about it , I wasn’t sure if I would easily find any images I like, since this colour is not often chosen by parents for kids’ bedrooms. Quite accidentally I came across a new lookbook of Imps-Elfs for Winter 2016, and I could have not believe my eyes. The black graphics as a main colour used for their new campaign!
Personally I think the black is mostly chosen in kids’ space to make a statement. Black wall, black floor or furniture, those are strong elements which will grab our attention. To make it more personal we can always add colourful or soft accessories.
The white bunk bed for a little girl with black wall is nicely decorated with butterflies and garlands. Very unique design of the black attic bed helps to create a cosy sleeping corner in this large open space. Black furniture, will be always standing out in a space, especially with the contrasting black&white accessories. I hope this images will wake up your imagination that the black can also be an interesting option introduced from time to time into children’s universe.
Thank you for the inspiration : Imps-Elfs on pictures 2 - 3 - 4 - and 11 &13

Bohemian Vibe in children’s rooms
Today our Monday’s inspiration for you, is a bit different from what you used to see here. No more perfect mix-match children’s rooms deco. We go for ‘Boho Vibe’.
Term ‘Bohemian’ in a modern usage is applied to people who live unconventional, usually artistic lives. Bohemian decorating is very personal and original. Their owners often travel to exotic places around the world, collect original finds and take it back to transform their homes. These spaces are defined with a lot of textiles, colour and art . The style is just perfect to create casual and playful kids’ rooms. Bohemian decoration is made with a lot of creativity, it can be more minimal ( what I prefer) or can be a real explosion off colour and texture. We will spot different furniture , classic designer’s pieces, vintage finds and modern deco. I’m more than sure that if we would let kids create their own space, they would turn ‘Bohemian’ very fast , since they are little artists themselves.
I wish you a great week ahed.
